I just bought "The Complete Video Collection" and ripped to divx for on demand PC play and the audio levels are crap!!! I noticed when I demuxed audio/video 24bit LPCM and thought awesome! but when i loaded up the .wavs in Soundforge solid levels obviously compressed at peaks. This sucks and I don't know why bands put up with it. when you have a song that is constantly peaked like that you get no overhead which makes the music sound flat.

P.S. 2 channel dolby @ 192 sucks too.

Peace, pass it on to other bands please.

It's a problem industry-wide. At this point, not going along with it would mean the general public would think your CDs are too quiet. Also, I think it's mastering that has the final say in these things, not mixing.
