Hi, can anyone tell me what the difference between the red and the black versions of the "They Were Born to Kill" vinyl from 1985 are? Please?

I think it's not from 1985, it's from 1987, when the band was already called Offspring, no?

Jesusfuckingchrist. It's from 1991, slightly after Baghdad. It's made from B-side of Tehran demo cassette (released in 1988).

Wow, way to be subtle and friendly about it.

What about the original recordings? I think the TWBTK EP was recorded before 1989, sure. 1985 is too early. And I readed in a lot of sites that it's from '87.

You're slowly becoming a big bag of douche.

You just answered your own question. Kinda. The difference is the color, that's all.

I believe it was released in '86 or '87.

Edit in light of my stupidity: Agreed.

The only difference is the colour
There are 4 colours out there, black, red, grey and purple.
I have all except grey

You're all wrong. It was released in 1991, because:

a) the original recordings (it means Tehran demo cassette) was released in 1988
b) it was released after the S/T album, and it's a bootleg, not official release.
The font used on TWBTK is a rip-off of the movie called The Offspring, released in 1987.

So tell me, how do you KNOW it was released in 1991? Just curious since it doesn't say anything on the actual vinyl or sleeve.

I've read somewhere that it was released slightly after Baghdad EP to promote the band, so I think it is 1991. But anyway - there's no way it was released sooner than 1989.

And I've read at several places that it was released in 86' or '87. Never, ever have I read that it was released after the first album. You make a good point though about the movie which was released in '87. That makes '86 impossible and '87 not likely. Let's say '88 or '89 and leave it there.

Yes Jojan, you have 2 versions. Good for you. I only have the purple one but I'll be fine.

Thanks a lot. :) I found both lp's on ebay, but before I bought one of them, I first wanted to find out what the difference was. I thought that maybe the red one was a reissue or something, and if one of them was more rare than the other one.

Thanks again.

It's made from a Side B of the Tehran Demo Cassette, which was released in 1988. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tehran_(album) . It's the tape BANKZ won a contest for in eBay and the tape brought them a contract with Nemesis. So TWBTK couldn't be released sooner than 1988 or 1989.
