View Full Version : Secret show --- chose the songs

Ok, the show will be recorded we know, and will be only for the fans, so they won't have the excuse of "they don't know the old songs". So vote for the songs they NEVER or BARELY play that you'd like to hear in that show. Some lucky people will see it, but maybe we all will see it, so it would be cool to chose some songs with the fans. The 5 with more votes could be played. I know that it won't help this, but who knows, let's try...

I put only the old albums since we don't know wich new songs they'll play :D

I could have voted for many more, but since I just could vote for one - Lightning Rod. I'm just so into that song now. ^^

Why am I the only person to have voted for Out On Patrol?? Also, I regard Lightning Rod is overrated as an option for a live performance. Personally, I would hate to see it live simply because it doesn't seem well suited at all. Crossroads similarly is a complex, introspective song which I would probably consider gross live.

Hmm they will probably play 8-10 songs, I hope there's room for a rare played one, but I unfortuantely doubt it (I hope I bite my tongue hehe).

If it were possible I'd go for End of the line.

Yeah, they're not going to play anything too obscure during the show, since a lot of it will be new stuff. If we're lucky they may play a song off Ignition (ie Session/LAPD/ Dirty Magic).

Yeaaaaah, I quoted myself.

Anyway, that show seems to be really good, but the audience is like crap? Look at this Self Esteem video, and when Dexter try to do something fun in the middle. Why are they so damn lame?

The secret show isn't going to be like the Paris club show, though -- it's going to go on Yahoo Music later in the year, so I'm not sure they'd break out old songs for it, you know?

Dexter_italy
07-31-2008, 04:09 PM
We all know it isn't going to work, but a try never hurted :D If there will be space for a rare played song and they watch this thread they maybe pick up one of those...We're not asking for much, a cool show has something new and something old...a perfect show has something new, something old and something rare :D

I'd say Something to Believe In. Don't think I've ever seen a vid of them playing it. I think it would go great live.

Forever and A Day and Come Out Swinging too.

Some of the songs you listed they used to play all the time before Americana came out (eg. Kick Him When He's Down, Burn It Up), so imo they don't really count.

Free?
07-31-2008, 05:29 PM
I really doubt that they would ever play Kill The President :/ I haven't decided my choice yet.
Okay, Jennifer Lost The War got it. Because with it started their first album, it's somewhat special, and because NONE yet voted for it, Grrr!

Yeah but it could be that they play more songs off-camera though compared to other bands (she saw Alanis M, right?). They used to do it for top of the pops. There they usually played a bunch of other songs off-camera given.

I guess they'll definitely play:
Half Truism
Hammerhead
You're Gonna Go Far Kid
Self Esteem
Pretty Fly
Bad Habit (starter, and hopefully the broadcast allows swearing)
Come Out and Play
The Kids Aren't allright

And lets hope they play more songs, which probably won't be on yahoo like:
-other rafrag stuff (lets hope so!): Trust In You, Takes me nowhere (seems like a song they would play live), Stuff Is Messed Up
-Session
-Some other known songs (want you bad, what happened to you, all i want, have you ever, etc)

I choose has the same votes as blackball? yes but 9 years to listen a song are enough to put it on the list I think...I'd personally would like a setlist plenty of those songs in theyr show. I remeber the list of songs they were rehearsing for the warped, they had a lot of old songs, I don't know if they played them all, we had not so many videos from warped unluckly. then again I think that if they will play any of those songs in the list we all be happy because we ain't used to hear them live :)

Possibly. When I saw them on the Splinter tour they played:
Neocon + The Noose
Long Way Home
Hit That
The Worst Hangover Ever
Da Hui
Can't Get My Head Around You

So that's 6 (7?) songs they played then. Maybe they hit the rehearsal studio for this reason, eh? Or maybe just wishful thinking?

Although i'm not really participating in this poll, i've always been puzzled that the band hasn't really played this song live. It seems tailor made for a live setting.
