So I’m getting a bit sick of the vs threads, and thought I’d post something semi-original. Here are a bunch of great bands that I think a lot of users on this site may enjoy. Some of you may have moved past your “punk” phase, but may be looking to find out who are currently the best new bands on the scene. Others may be new to the genre and looking for something to check out. I tried to pick bands that aren’t really mentioned on the bbs.

P.S. Even non tru-punx will enjoy Gaslight Anthem.

I absolutley love By the Throat by Dead to Me. I remember checking them out after hearing that before, and being disappointed with everything else.

Fair enough; you may like the Flatliners, they have a slight ska influence.

I like The Flatliners, Teenage Bottlerocket, and Gaslight Anthem. Teenage Bottlerocket sounds very much like The Ramones.

I <3 the Flatliners. Thanks.

On a random note, every time I see this thread out of the corner of my eye, I thing it says iPunk's name, because of punk+numbers

I also should mention that Dillinger Four/ Lawrence Arms are a bit of an 'acquired' taste...

Ha, glad you like some of them. Funny enough, the first time i saw/heard Teenage Bottlerocket, i actually thought they were some sort of Ramones Tribute band.

Ironically, those are the only two bands out of the ones you listed that I actually listen to. With that in mind, I'll check out some of the other bands.

Please do, I have a feeling you may like the Loved Ones.

Attack of the .orgcore?

Not that that's a bad thing... I listen to all of those bands, except for the last two. So far, I really dig the Loved Ones--they kind of remind me of the Hold Steady.

Haha, i was kind of waiting for someone to point that out. I'm not too familiar with Hold Steady, if they sound like the Loved Ones, i should definitely check them out.

Haha... well, at least the tunes are good, right?

Well, to be fair, only the first song on the Myspace reminded me of the Hold Steady. But, really, check them out anyway. They're pretty good:

"Constructed Summer" refers to D4 and Joe Strummer. :D

I know them. Not a fan.

But I do like some of this teenage bottle rocket. Sounds just like straight up 90's pop-punk.

So I downloaded The '59 Sound. I like what I hear so far, but I think it needs a couple more listens before I raise it to "omg awesome" status.

Fucking love The Lawrence Arms, really like Gaslight Anthem, certainly dig The Loved Ones (and have successfully missed seeing them twice now :(), and never could get into Dillinger Four.

I'm looking forward to hearing the other bands, though, because judging by the fact that they're coupled with those first three, they're probably really great.
