RIAA CERTIFICATION

Gold album (Disco de oro) = 500.000
Platinum album (Disco de platino) = 1.000.000
Multi-Platinum album [More than 1.000.000] (Disco multi-platino) = +1.000.000
Diamond album (Disco de diamantino) = 10.000.000

The Offspring "S/T" (1989) = 500.000 (Gold album?).
The Offspring "Ignition" (1992) = 1.000.000 (Gold or Platinum?).
The Offspring "Smash" (1994) = 16.000.000 (Diamond album? or 6xPlatinum?). I´m thinking that this album get over 10.000.000.
The Offspring "Ixnay On The Hombre" (1997) = 7.000.000 (7xPlatinum).
The Offspring "Americana" (1998) = 12.000.000 (Diamond album? or Multi-platinum?). It´s get over 10.000.000.
The Offspring "Conspiracy Of One" (2000) = 5.000.000 (5xPlatinum album? or Gold album?). It´s get over 1.000.000.
The Offspring "Splinter" (2003) = 1.500.000 (1xPlatinum album + 1xGold? or only gold album?)
The Offspring "Greatest Hits" (2005) = +600.000 (Gold album)
The Offspring "Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace" (2008) = +482.000. In this case, it´s only estimates. A little bit to give the gold album only 18.000.

482.000 + 18.000 = 500.000 (Gold)

U.S. Sales = 117.000 approximatted
Worldwide Sales = +482.000

You are waiting to receive more news about the RIAA Certification. The album "Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace" does not have "Gold album certificate" yet.

That counts only for the USA.

You have the worldwide sales.

Also, once the album is platinum, it's not gold anymore.

Possibly due to lack of full-scale touring through support. This is kinda similar to Alice in Chains' self-titled record (also known as Tripod).

It'll get more sales as they tour the U.S. It doesn't help matters that people are too cheap to actually pay for their music nowadays. grr!

RAFRAG isn't doing as well as their previous efforts due to several reasons, 1) sales across the industry are down, 2) the band isn't touring America at the moment 3) for the past couple years the band has kind of fallen off the public's radar. Still a top 10 billboard debut is nothing to be dismissed, and i'm sure the album will achieve godl status eventually in the US. Just wait for them to give a proper release to You're Gonna Go Far, Kid (ie with a video) and launch their own tour.

Hey, if they've got good reasons to not release a video yet, then so be it. But the fact remains that from a business perspective, it's really not good that the video isn't out or at least almost finished yet. You know, considering that the single was released in mid July.

Well, you do know it still hasn't been officially released yet, right?

Doesn't it make more sense to release a single to coincide with the tour date announcement. Ie from a publicity perspective.

It takes even longer to plan a tour than do a video. What exactly do you figure their plan should be? I mean, the American tour is probably still months away...they can't release the video then, when radio stations want to play the third single. They'll end up competing with their own singles.

it also doesn't help when the majority of radio stations, at least where i live, play country or stupid dance music that talks about wanting to get with a girl, but thats KY for you. i can't wait for tour, they'll sell decent amount on tour in us

I don't really think you've understood... , there will probably be an announcement in next little while concerning the band's touring plans for North America. Thus from a publicity standpoint it will be a good time to release a single, so there will be an increased interest in the band, which will thus boost ticket sales. And in turn, will boost sales of the album. From a marketing perspective it would be silly to release the single with no touring support from the band, since any increased interest would be wasted. Also, lots of radio stations still haven’t started playing You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid, ie Toronto’s the Edge won’t play it until it’s an official release, and it’s one of the largest stations in the world.

According to this site ( http://www.allaccess.com/ ), YGGFK is already the number 10 most played alt. rock song. Maybe it's different in Canada, but it's being played a lot here in the U.S.
