This is just here so we can stop taking over the covers thread. It will be abandoned once we are done.

This is where we are at so far:
http://www.savefile.com/files/1757387

It's a guitar and bass track, with some temporary vocals.
I played the guitar, Static Martyr did the bass, and lost_nvrfound did the vocals. Thanks to disclaimer for reducing the static on the separate tracks and remastering a bit.

Also, we are looking for a drummer, so if anyone wants to do the drums we are open to it. :)

Yeah I considered that, but I think we're gonna try and get a new one first.

Sounds really good guys. Kind of different listening to a female singing it.. lol. Your singing is quite a bit different than your voice did on the phone. Nice job. :D

Just need some drums and you'll be set.

Haha, yeah, most people don't expect my singing voice. Thanks. :D

Just waiting for a response from one of the drummers on here

The drummer situation is stressful. But I just got some JVC speakers for my new stereo system so I'm pretty happy lol :D.

I had given two of my friends a copy of the guitar and bass version. They both thought it was good. But one of them said that the guitar was "WAAY overpowering the bass". So I think we do need to turn the bass up.

Also, that friend is coming over to my house tomorrow, and I told her to bring her bass (no idea if she will), and I'm going to try and make a bass track for all my other covers. I'll post them if she does bring it. I'm also gonna do my own bass track for Hammerhead, but we won't use it, because it'd be kinda rude to not use Static's, plus his is good, and I don't play bass. That will just be to see how good I can do. I have a general idea of how to play them all too.

That's what I said. I would turn up the bass a bit.

I know, but everyone else ignored it so I decided that I'd bring it up if someone else said something.

I'd love to summit the srumming. But as I told Ryder, I don't have the software nor the mics for a set.

I do know someone who has that stuff, but he's a douche. And I haven't talked to him in over a year.

This is great. :D
I wish I could do something to help, but my skills aren't in music. :(

Yeah, the software would be a non issue as you could just download a trial, but the mics would be an issue. I have no idea what the cost on that would be either.

*whew*

Here you guys are! I was wondering what happened back there. I bookmarked that topic (I don't usually topic-surf unless I'm *really, really* bored, which I thankfully was today).

In any case, I have no objection to you using a better bass line if you can find one (I won't be all offended or anything; besides, I already have my own cover for the comp!). What I was actually gonna say here, though, was that if you were willing to do the whole thing again from scratch, I can provide a drum line. I've been playing with my drum machine and I think I can pull it off (maybe not "exactly," but pretty damn close). But the biggest problem would be syncing it up; the drum machine is a little too precise with keeping time, and I can't seem to sync it up right with the bass/guitar/vox, what with the whole "it's almost impossible for a human to keep time super exactly precisely" thing. I've managed to get a basic tempo set up (before adding fills and whatnot), but it's too sloppy and it doesn't match the strum patterns of the bass and guitars.

So if you get desperate enough to start from scratch, let me know. I'll be preparing a Hammerhead drum line tonight on my drum machine, just in case :) If you guys don't use it here, I'll just use it for my band, so there's no pressure or anything.

What I figured we could do, in the case that you decide to start over and record the guitar/bass over the drums, is this:

(1) I record drum tracks on my nifty drum machine, with some time-keeping metronomes thrown in for the tacet parts (bass solo, intro, etc.). If necessary, I'll also re-record the bass over it
(2) I send you the drum tracks; you record guitar over it
(3) Send them to nvrfound and let her do the vox over it.
(4) Send to disclaimer for technical stuff (anti-fuzz, hum, etc.). You might want to do that with the original drum track; I don't know how it will sound.
(5) Heat in microwave for 15-20 minutes. Be careful when taking out, as contents may be hot.
(6) Enjoy!

I don't have a real major problem starting from sctratch, but I just redid the vocals and to do them again i'll have to wait a couple days.

no static, your bass line is staying cause my attempted was worse.
i also dont have a problem restarting, but i need to wait a while till I can get a 9 volt battery for my tubescreamer. it died :(

if someone does the drums though, we'd be set.

So what's the situation? Have you guys found someone to do drums yet?

I've been practicing, but I'm still working on Fix You. Hammerhead is beyond my skill level with regard to actually playing, for the time being.
