I just thought I could make a thread about The Offspring's music equipments. - What guitars, basses and drums do they use? etc.
And if it already exist a thread like this, I'm sorry, but I didn't find any after searching.

I know that they use Ibanez-basses and guitars, but nothing more. What do you guys know?

Aaand, I was just checking out the Ibanez homesite and look what I found:

I know they use Ibanez Tube Screamers (pedal). Dexter uses an Ibanez RG570 (?), Noodles uses three guitars; a Talman covered in duct tape, the NDM1, and the NDM2. Dont remember what Greg uses.

As for amps, at least back in the CO1 days, I know Dexter and Noodles were using a Mesa Boogie Mark IV and VHT Pitbull heads, coupled with I think 2 Mesa Boogie Cabs each. Last time I saw them live it looks like either Dexter or Noodles was using a Marshall Cab, but I definitely do remember seeing the Mesa Boogie cab on stage, also, so that is still in the mix.

dexter has like his own special edition chrome RG, i know that much. Greg uses ibanez basses mostly, and sometimes a fender one i think. i dont know the models though.

sorry to bump this, but...

I think he just uses the NDMs for the most part now (the NDM1 is basically a duct taped talman. I wanted one when they first came out, but they only made them for such a short time.), though he used to turn up with duct taped talman with a floating bridge (I remember seeing him use the wammy bar during the intro to Gotta Get Away on one of the dvds), but it seems they just use their customs now. Perhaps because they can easily replace them or have multiples in case they need to swap out mid-show or something? Its harder with an out-of-production guitar that you done your own customizing to.

Yeah, Dexter's are 570s according to the Ibanez website, but I want to know what signifies the two guitars he uses in the shows as 570s and not something else since they have fixed bridges. but then again, i'll never be able to understand the subtle differences in the guitars from the RG series.

It would sound a lot better compared to a stock RG570. Probably higher grade wiring inside and of course DiMarzio pickups, and little things he would prefer compared to a stock.

Oh and the difference between Noodles' Talman and NDM1 is the Talman has a pickguard and the NDM1 doesn't. But yeah, he doesn't really use the Talman anymore. He did at Soundwave though, I think he uses it on TKAA.

They also use (or at least used to use) some Gibson guitars in the studio form time to time, but you won't see them on stage with it for obvious reasons ;).

I believe he used it live for "Worst Hangover Ever", there's a video somewhere on youtube of an MTV performance where you can see it.

Wow those pictures are amazing, prizes for anyone who can name all the rack units! :D

i know that greg was using a marshall 8 by 10 with an SVT head when i saw them (actually so was the bassist for The Bravery, though I imagine Greg's was a little more juiced). Its kind of an industry standard.

Dexter was also using a marshall. Noodles had a couple different amps roaring behind him.

Dex used that "fender" although ive never seen the logo on it and its looks a bit shabby for beeing a fender, during WHOE in stockholm.
Never Seen greg use a marshall 8*10 thou, only seen him usa an ampeg 8*10 which always lies down, during the 99-02 tours they lay under the drumriser, and there was two of them, in the last years theres only one,

Greg uses Ibanez ATK300 Bass Guitar, which is one of Ibanez's bigger instrument along with the RG.

He also has been using a Ibanez custom RD500

I know, as far as amps go, they use Mesa Boogies and started using VHT Classic Lead amplifiers since Splinter came out.

Well, I know Noodles used Mesa/Boogie Mark IV amplifiers with 4x12 cabinets for most of their records.

http://gc.guitarcenter.com/interview/noodles/

Also, I know Dexter uses DiMarzio Super Distortion bridge pickups for most of his RG's. DiMarzio's are good. I wish I could afford to get some.

Greg K:

Gallien Krueger 2001RB Bass amp
Ampeg SVT 810
Ibanez RD500
Ibanez ATK (Quite some, ranging from ATK 300's to ATK1300's?)
D'addario strings (.045 to .100).

I'm quite sure he's using this. I've got the same gear (Gallien Krueger, Ampeg, ATK300 and D'addario) and I've got the same sound. It's brilliant.

I wouldn't what a custom NDM1. I'd perfer to make my own sound, not borrow from someone elses. I want a RG with Seymour Duncan pickups, or DiMarzio.

Hey, if it gets what I want, then I'll go for it. I wanna try out PRS's and see if I can get the normally hard rock guitar to play fast punk rock.

Go for Mesa/Boogies or Peaveys. Marshalls are good, but I don't like them compared to Mesa/Boogies. Plus, a buddy of mine's Marshall exploded while they were practicing.
