What the hell happened to this band? Did they break up? I haven't been paying attention to them ever since they got rid of their old singer. That guy was awesome.

Pretty sure nothing, although i haven't really been paying attention either.

I was never terribly impressed with them for that matter. A couple songs are decent, but mostly they come off as generic-altrock. That said, I still wouldn’t mind hearing the final product, if they ever get around to releasing a proper album.

never saw anything special in them.

I fucking LOVED a few of their songs. They had some unforgettable melodies. I really thought their old singer, Rick Stitch, was good. He had some side project last time I checked.

How many singers have they been through now, like 2?

I think they've had a few lineup changes, but I know they've had at least two different singers.

You have Rick Stitch mp3s?! I've been looking for those. No one on their web forum had any. I would be forever grateful if you uploaded them for me...

Rick Stitch has a new band he has been working on since he left Steady Ground.

They also have an all ages show at Key Club Hollywood Jan 17th.

Well, i haven't been terribly interested in Steady Ground, seemed a little to generic alt-rock for my taste; but i am curious to see what is their current status. Is it safe to say that this band is dead?

yes it is safe to say that

i think the steady ground album was ready to come out until rick stitch left

benjamin hatch filled in for the last few tour dates in september and october 2007

and im pretty sure ron welty is retired from music industry :(

bighead384

Yeah, they definitely don't seem to be going anywhere, and I doubt Ron has much patience to stick around with a band like that at this point in his career. So I guess that and all the member changes made breaking up inevitable.

But I insist that this band was awesome. It never bothered me that they were kind of generic alt-rock because I thought they were such good song writers. The riffs were cool, and everything was so catchy. I really liked Rick Stitch as a frontman. I still remember how all their songs go, even the ones I haven't heard in a while. They were very good and very memorable songs in my opinion.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I didn't know they friggin' FINISHED the album. That's frustrating. I've been in a few bands before, I can't imagine what could possibly go so wrong among the members in the band to the point where they won't even release a finished album.

I'd at least be like "I'm not that happy, but I'll wait a few months and see where this album takes us". There must have been some SERIOUS shit that went down.

i found those pics on the steady ground blog http://steady-ground.skyrock.com/

Steady Ground formed in a European hotel room in 2001. Bored and forced indoors from the cold of the European summer, Ron Welty, the drummer, and George Squiers the monitor engineer for The Offspring, started putting songs together. George, residing in Tucson, Arizona (no one really knows why) and Ron in Orange County, California, had been touring together since 1995. (George is currently doing monitors for the Chili Peppers). In need of a singer they hooked up with Aaron Pointon from San Diego, formerly the front man for the band Bluespring. Recently, Steady Ground has hooked up with Guitarist Doug Osterkamp, a long time band mate with Ron in Spinning Fish."

No, they are still together. They were having trouble finding a stable singer, but things are looking okay for them. They are still working on their album and they are planning a tour.

That's right. It's hard to have a band without a singer. Unless your band is called Dream Theatre

They might still be active, just no new news has come out.
