This thread is for anyone who wants to collaborate and write songs. If you come up with a riff, beat, or melody, and you don't have a band (or don't want to make it into a song with your band for whatever reason), record it and post it here. Others can build off it. All styles accepted.

Totally have some things to post here.

I've got an absolute TON of material. If anybody wants to stick some vox over some instrumental tracks, I've got 100's of 'em.

But yeah, I use most of it for my band. So I can't promise you anything in particular; just anything I have left over that I feel like I won't be using.

I'll post up a riff I've been working on for half a year or so. I love it, but I couldn't go anywhere with it. It's not a good rhythm for vocals, so it'd would have to be a bridge or something.

Just recorded it. The riffs I was talking about. Theres a second one. I made that up this week in the hope It might go with the first one.

Hope you like my wah spasm at the end lol.

Oh yeah. The spasm was epic.

I have so many oh so many little riffs and things, but, as Static said, they're mostly things I want to keep for myself. I can think of at least one I can give up, though, which I'll record some time.

By the way, I like this idea. I always dug the idea of online collaboration.
By the way again, Karin can you play those bits? I'm having a hard time picturing.

I went through all the files I recorded with ideas on them. Some of these are the old recordings, pasted in. Click here (http://cid-aa15aa3772f9dabf.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blah) and it's "rands_riffs"

Please Excuse My Dear Amp Sally's Digital Soundingness. It sounds even worse when when it's direct lined (which is what it is now, I'm saying).

P.S. There's a "Name That Tune" at the end of it all. 100,000 e-bucks to whomever gets it.

Interesting thread, i've got so many riffs i can't even remember them all. I have to record them yet, and i'll post links to the uploads here when i do. I don't have a band (yet), but i have many ideas. Most of them i intend to use if i form a band though, but i have some material that could be used here also (i want to form a grunge/punk band, but i have many riffs that just would not fit in that style, like some more metal or some hardcore punk riffs)

Yeah I can play them. I wrote them, did I not?

I wasn't necessarily thinking of this as a "give up your hardwork" kind of collaboration. I was thinking it was more of a "group effort to help you finish some songs for later use" type thing. I'd still want my riffs for in case I start a band in the future (which is my plan)

Righty-O. Same here, but I had some throw-aways that I'm sure I'll never use.
EDIT: Thanks.

Well in that case i have almost too much material for this thread :D. I just have yet to record most of it.

I like that y'all kids are bonding over this (I know you're not all kids).

If you like the idea of online collaboration, give online Jamming a try. I personally haven't done it yet, but as long as you can record you can use NINJAM to jam with other people over the internet.

mrconeman and me were talking about doing this a while back, but we never did. I've had tons of trouble recording guitar until recently. But if some of you would be up for it I still want to try it, so just give me a heads up.

Heh, thanks. I was thinking that, too.

...online Jamming...

I've been interested in this for a while, but I don't get good internet connection. Once that's straight, I'll surely be up for it.

Limited bandwidth connection (200MB/24 hours). That sort of thing would eat me alive. Although I'd enjoy it like hell for the 6+ minutes before I got sent into FAP mode (yes, that's what it's called).

I decided to be a bit productive and recorded this:

http://rapidshare.com/files/150352002/work_in_progress_by_R88.mp3.html

It's not the whole melody yet, just a few riffs, and they're probably get improved and changed a bit in the future. But nevertheless, we could build the song upon this. What do you think?

And BTW, one riff was inspired by Trust In You, before you start accusing me of copying The Offspring :D

Well, I'm in! :)

I don't think I'm good enough yet for making my own music, but sure I can come up with something while "noodling" on the guitar. I'm probably not gonna be tot active here, but if I come up with something, be sure I'm posting it.

i can almost here vocal melody. it'd be nice with a drum track, even of the most basic kind, to even out some of the timings, but i can hear a melody brewing in my mind.

its cool... very offspring style

Oh, yes! Raptor, that was superb. I came up with an awesome melody, but, alas, I didn't write it down or record it. And the part with the octaves is probably my favorite. Just wondering, are you picturing that with or without vocals?

Hmm, i haven't thought much about it yet. But it was kinda meant as the melody during the chorus (maybe the rhytm guitar playing the same riff as the first riff in the song, and the lead guitar playing the octave part alongside), so i pictured it with the vocals, although that might change, when there would be some progress. I'll also try to do a solo for it (short and punk oriented solo).

edit: ok, here's the link http://rapidshare.com/files/153048898/guitar_part_for_song_by_R88.mp3.html

It's still a basic melody, will probably change a bit. It was put together quite quickly and i didn't play it perfectly, but i wanted to record something to work upon.

I need to tell you again how awesome that is. I've had that part I like stuck in my head all week. I so wish I could steal it for my band, but of course I won't. :D

I might hunker down and try to put a melody or something to it. I'll let you know if I do.

Hehe, thanks. I really hope to form a band, it's just that i have very little free time now (due to studying for exams). Things are moving in the right direction, my roommate told me for a friend who plays drums, but nothing's certain yet.

You don't have to steal the song - you and the band can record a cover (when the song is finished) :D

If you come up with something though, i would appreciate it. You would be given the credit for the part you come up with, of course ;)

P.S. Have you noticed that the octave part has changed a bit (but just a small bit) from the previous version?

I have a riff... but the adapter for my mic is broken, so you'll all have to suffer listening a recording I took with my mp3 player. It sounds like shit (not the riff, it's bitchen ) Wait for an upload.

I know this is not completely original, but i had this idea...

I liked The Punisher film (2004 version), and i really like the theme track, so i recorded it with my guitar, and i'm posting it here, since there's no better place to do this on this forum. I wanted it to sound epic, so i added a bit reverb.

Well, you have the same chord progression, but so do million other bands - it's impossible to invent new chords. But the rhytm is different, and i like the sound. I wouldn't say you copied them, so don't worry.

Thanks. I really like the way how my guitar sounds in this one. But i'll re-record it, because i have some ideas how to change it a bit (not much, just a little improvisation). The sound will stay the same though.

I don't have tabs for this song. I just downloaded the original theme song and figured it out by listening. It's pretty easy. Expect some changes in the future though, because i have some ideas how to make it even better... I'll record it on friday when i come home (now i'm in my student's dorm and i don't have my guitar here)

Well, The Punisher theme is not finished yet, i have yet to record the final version. I might try to write the tabs then :)

Anyway, the drummer sent me how the outro part of my song could sound, and my jaw dropped to the floor. Although drums are computer-made (real drums have yet to be recorded by him), it sounds fucking sick! But from now on i won't post anything else untill the song is finished... I don't want to ruin the surprise :D
