Wanna hear something funny?

Last night, I had a dream that I read the news that said The Offspring were planning on returning to the studio to record their next album in 2009, and I was like "What? Another album already? Excellent!" lol

The reason I posted this was because I thought there would be some one stuck on or thinking about the Offspring's follow-up to RAFRAG.

I assume they will write their ninth album while they do a full tour, then take a break, then record it around late 2009, then release it around 2010 or later.

'2010 or later' it'll probs be planned for 2010, but then actually be released in like 2012 or something:(

Most bands, including The Offspring before RAFRAG, do it this way. It's more like a usualness than a plan.

Or maybe 2011, you never know. The website Metalunderground.com (http://www.metalunderground.com/news/details.cfm?newsid=38676) says Machine Head will also release their next album in 2011 as well.

If during the time between RAFRAG and the new one will be tour also in my country (or somewhere nearby) and if the album will be so good as this is, I "dont care" when it will come out.

Let's not make too many speculations yet, especially when they are founded on what Alex101 dreamt the Nothingtown Times said based on no real evidence.

Noodles said in an interview that they wanted to tour for a year then hit the studios again for the follow up.

If things stay that way then I would bargain a guess at Christmas 2010.

I really don't think we'll be waiting two and half years from the release of RAFRAG.

I'm guessing late Summer/Fall of 2009. The fact that Noodles ALREADY mentioned that another album is already coming along (and that was like two months ago) tells me something. I don't know why the hell he'd say something like that unless the album was coming out within about a year.

...i'm sure they started talking about the follow up to splinter (RAFRAG) in like '04-'05, and RAFRAG didn't come out for another 3 years, on that basis i think 2010-11 is realistic

Yeah, but Noodles said this RIGHT after RAFRAG came out. I think that's an indication that they already have a lot of material ready to record, especially since they took some time off between Splinter and RAFRAG. I'm sure they told people that they had another album coming soon after Ixnay was released. And then it was only a year and half later and Americana was out.

Also, after reading your post again...what do you mean you're sure they started talking about RAFRAG in 2004. Sources? Because that's something I'd have to see to believe.

they definitely spoke about a new album in 04/05, b4 greatest hits, as at one stage they were undecided on whether to do a full album (RAFRAG) or do the GH

Drop it already. You are one of the few that hates it and have made your voice heard on numerous occasions. Enough.

Also, Dexter said that they took 23 demos with them and we now know that 12 songs were recorded. Now some of those songs could have been redone into other songs and not usable. It will be interesting to see, but I'm still guessing summer or fall 2010.

Actually, if i remember correctly, the first news posting we got after the band debut Hammerhead in Japan was that the band was going to record/recording 13 tracks,. But, i think your prediction for the most part is correct. I don't think they're going to take a long time to work on the next release (especially considering they already have a bunch of demos leftover to work on), but sometime in 2010 is a fair guess, considering the band is probably going to spend the next year touring on and off.

i would love to have a new album out in 2009! but i don't think a new album will come before at least 2011, more likely 2012. why can't they do like pennywise, a new album every other year!!

at the bottom, dexter said in 2004 that he wanted to put out a new album in 2005

Well, let's just hope they'll still have plans to record their ninth album next year, depending on how long they intend to support the Rise and Fall album on tour.

All any of us can do is speculate, but I'm still optimistic that we're going to get another treat like we got with Ixnay and Americana...only about a year and a half of a waiting between records.

No, they put too much work into it their albums nowadays to expect it anytime soon. I took them two years to record this one. It'll probably take them close to the same amount of time to do the next. I seems though that they don't plan on taking the 3 year break from major recording like they did after splinter.

I'm just hoping that they do a lot of dates in the US next year. I haven't gotten as far as the next album. Its too soon for that.

at the very least, the offspring have taught us many good life lessons.

1 - anyone can be a rockstar, especially "head custodians"
2 - even the smart guys in school can be cool enough for a rock band
3 - being able to be part of a band automatically makes you a badass
4 - you don't need to talk to be loved
5 - fans can be accepting when it comes to change

most importantly
6 - patience
