I'm making a mixtape and I need like 3 more songs but I'm like so sick of my music collection that I can't tell what's likable and what grew on me situationally. so I need something hooky but not too sugary like queens of the stoneage or kings of leon. except not them.

Not quite sure if this is the kind of song you're looking for but try Alkaline Trio - Every Thug Needs a Lady, a great pop song.

Post what you have so far so I can try to find you something that goes along with it perfectly, instead of random stabs until someone gets it right.

oooooooooh replacements are a good idea!! because the night I will put twice on the love mixtape I make for you.

okay so basically I'm really squeemish musically. like if someone's voice is too whiney I'm not really down or if it's too sappy or thrashy/screamy/angsty/emotional/slow.

I approve with Ninth's Muse reccommendation, but I must ask that if you don't want anything "too sugary", why is Bohemian Like You in there? That song is a masterclass in sugary pop.

My suggestions:

Reuben - Let's Stop Hanging Out
The Living End - Fond Farewell (or Blinded)
The Arctic Monkeys - Fake Takes of San Francisco
Graham Coxon - Freakin' Out
Ima Robot - Alive
Home Grown - You're Not Alone
The Ordinary Boys - Talk Talk Talk
Spin Doctors - Two Princes
Travis - Turn

So many hooks in those songs, you could land fucking Jaws.

No way man, I completely disagree. It's poppy, sure. But too sugary? Nah.

I think Billy Idol should be mentioned too. Rebel Yell, Scream, and of course John Wayne (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2D8ZNvT8nw). He's hot.

I officially love ninth for picking a Mika song... though I'm not sure that particular song is appropriate for a love mixtape. Maybe "Love Today" ;)

I like the suggestion of Two Princes. A lot.

I was gonna make a suggestion, but then I realized it's not in English. Never mind.
