Hey!

My brother gave me his old external harddrive. It has like 3x the memory of my laptop and I need to fill it up! Send music pls!

Nieh. I liked the music you uploaded, particularly the Dismemberment Plan. However I couldn't listen to a couple albums because they were in .ogg format!

I'm open to anything and I promise feedback!

Also feel free to send porn too! (just pm it!)

In other news, I'm baffled by trying to set up my new phone for MMS sending and recieving. I think it's because I've finally reached an age (22) where new technology confuses the shit out of me. But I can handle it! New technology is like new toys. I also got a new coffee bean grinder that's pathetically entertaining!

Edit: Preferably whole albums!

How about if I put my entire Music folder and a .rar and you can just delete what you have?

My music folder in only like 2. something gigs so I'll be stealing some of the music uploaded here too.

EDIT: If I do I'll do that tomorrow... cause I don't have the best upload speed. 2 gigs might take a few hours. :p

Blargh! I could re-rip those and upload them again for you if you want. Oggs SHOULD play on your computer (winamp and windows media player both play them fine, I'd be surprised if something like iTunes can't support it) but they don't play on most portable mp3 players unless you replace their firmware with something like Rockbox.

The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I (http://www.sendspace.com/file/463scr)
This is the album that came out before Change (which is the one I uploaded previously). Change is easily my favorite, but this one seems to be everyone else's favorite which means I must be wrong. It's a lot more punk-ish and herky-jerky and noisy than Change was but there's still a lot of pop in it as well.

So, I really don’t know what you listen to on a regular basis, but I’m guessing it’s not too much punk; still I think that you may enjoy these two bands. Both bands play a sort of punk/indie/pop/folk hybrid similar to the Weakerthans.

Oh well, i suppose they are a bit of an acquired taste. Glad you like The Gaslight Anthem, the 59 Sound is one of my favorite albums of the year. I'll take a look at my recent album purchases to see if there is anything else i'd recommend.

I'm digging that Dismemberment Plan. Haven't tried any of the others, yet. I don't think I have anything you'd particularly like or don't know about, yet. I posted a local band, the topic is somewhere on the second page. I liked 'em anyway, I thought someone else on here would. They're nothing super groundbreaking, but not bad.

Alright, now, I expect some feedback for the music I'm putting up from you.

I don't know what you like, so I just put in a few things. No heavy music, though. I considered it, but couldn't decide what band to include so I left it out - I'm pretty sure others will supply you with metal and punk aplenty. So I just figured I'd add stuff that's pretty easy to listen to.

So first I added LATO's album, More Art than Convenience?

I've mentioned them a few times over the years because no one else has ever heard of them, and I picked up their album in a bargain bin somewhere. It's pretty much really accessible pop-rock made by a British guy who moved to Germany and formed a band.

Then I figured I'd add a little jazz to jazz things up (you see my train of thought, I hope) but not any of that complex free-form wankery that no one except pretentious people can listen to. I enclosed a Scott Hamilton album instead. Again, it's accessible and fun to listen to.

Then you've got Ash's album Meltdown, which is their first really decent album and the one that originally got me into them. If you like them and plan on following up, get Twilight of the Innocents and not Nu-clear Sounds or 1977, because those albums really suck.

Added The Sun and the Moon by the Bravery. It's catchy enough and fun enough and so I added it.

I think the last one I added was Nada Surf's Lucky album. Also good. Some standout tracks, the rest are pretty alright too.

So that's 5 albums I expect a reply on. I hope you enjoy them.

ah but Vlad I want to discover new music and I want others to do it for me! But good to know.

Thi, I've downloaded your huge file and now I am taking the painful procedure of converting your songs to play on itunes.

Itunes is a fucking pain in the ass. I'd switch to WinAmp but I am too lazy with regards to the fact that I like my podcasts and the ease in which I don't have to worry about them.

Per! Music!

I was going to do one of my "here's a bunch of awesome songs for Per and Tizz" threads, but I'll save that one for now (accumulation can be slow).

So I'll give you an album. I've been loving it lately.

The Northern Pikes - Snow in June.

They're a pretty obscure Canadian rock band - I ripped this album off a friend. Although I think they gained some degree of popularity during their prime - they never hit it big. This album was released in 1990. Great pop rock, with a solid dose of rock. And pop. Hooky, but not too sugary, as Laura might put it.

The tracks aren't labeled (I guess the CD is too old/too independent for it to rip with file information) so you'd have to look up the track info on your own for names. My favourite song is the first one, "Dream Away." If I had to upload a few songs, I would choose tracks 1, 7, and 12, so start there if you're hesitant. But there are a few good pop songs on there. 8 is good too. Ack. It is worth it just for "Dream Away," I think.

Enjoy!

Alright I've digested most of what was given to me by Thi and Jackknife.

As I said, I really really liked the Gaslight Anthem.

Thi I'm planning on going through it one more time. But The Bravery I really enjoyed. As well as that album by Ash who I've heard before but never really liked. LATO kind of bores me. I like the Scott Hamilton band. It's not something I would normally listen to, but I can imagine it will come in handy at some point.

Downloading from Betty and afterwards!

Gaslight Anthem is pretty good. I listened to them for the first time last year. They're gonna be like the next Against Me! They're gonna play underground shows for like 3 more years then get really big. On top of that Gaslight Anthem fans like know ervery word of every song and go to as many of their shows as they can (I know this cause I have a few friends obsessed with Gaslight Anthem). Against Me! really deserved where they got to even though their newest album sucks but they earned it. Reinventing Axel Rose was fucking amazing though. One of my favorite punk albums.

If you don't listen to Against Me!, then thats who I suggest for you to listen to. You could also try Angel City Outcasts. They're someone I've gotten into again. They're like Punk with some killer solos and guitar riffs. Listen to the album Let it Ride.

I could give you a list of my music (23.5GB), and you can pick those you'd like to have. I'll probably write it tomorrow.

There are some rather unpopular bands among my collection, so I'll add a little description to each unknown band. Like, 1 or 2 sentences and maybe a youtube link.

It's been exactly 3 months since I started this thread. Making it the perfect opportunity to say which music sank in, which music I can remember, and which music I didn't like or made no impression. :) It totally wasn't laziness that had me postpone doing this. And I'm not just doing this because Thi complained so much. It was part of a carefully laid out plan.

The Dismemberment Plan
I think I liked listening to them, but they haven't made it into my regular 'listenins', now that I'm reminded of them though I might give them a chance again.

The Gaslight Anthem
I absolutely love this band. Jackknife the 2nd album you uploaded never downloaded correctly. I think I loved the classic-rock romanticism of this album, like it was retro-rock. A 're-imagining' of rock from the early 1960's.

La Grecia
I remember really not liking La Grecia.

Nieh, I need to give the bands you mentioned (Okkervil River, Minus the Bear, Travis Morrison Hellfighters, and Guster). I remember liking one, and not standing another. I think I liked Okkervil River, or else it was Minus the Bear. I can't remember. Maybe both.

Thi,
The Bravery
The Bravery was clearly your success in this. It was this band that I listen to almost as much as Gaslight Anthem and really enjoy. I really enjoyed this band a lot.

LATO
I didn't like LATO. I remember that.

Scott Hamilton
Scott Hamilton actually came in useful, like I predicted. But on top of that sometime it was just nice to relax to with a newspaper, and a gin and tonic. I'd make a great dad from the 1950's.

Ash
I liked this album by Ash, and even listened to it every once in a while. So this was a moderate success. :)

Nada Surf
They just didn't make a big impression on me.

Betty,
Northern Pikes
I remember liking the Northern Pikes, but I didn't listen to them much afterwards, mostly due to being busy. I plan on giving them a second chance though.

Free?,
I'm sorry but I pretty much didn't like anything you uploaded from Guilty gear X. Sorry.

Llamas,
Jakob Dylan
I remember not liking the Wallflowers, but I enjoyed this album a lot and it entered my musical rotation to a semi-regular degree.

Lost
I really didnt enjoy spanish punk.

The Sun and The Moon is the best album by the Bravery. Which isn't to say that the other popular album sucks. It's pretty great, especially songs like Tyrant Mouth or Honest Mistake.

You should find it. Or if you're too lazy just tell me and perhaps eventually I'll get around to uploading them. One day.

Damn you Per.

I'm compelled to give you more Bravery and Ash.

This Ash album is better than the other one, I think. It feels less complete, but the songs, if you give them a chance, just sound so damn good.

The track Twilight of the Innocents is my favorite, although Princess six, despite its lyrics, is a close second.

Ash - Twilight of the Innocents (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6KVZ3LDB)

This album would have been a better introduction to The Bravery, but I like the other one more so I gave it to you first. Honest Mistake and that other one I mentioned in that other post (probably Tyrant Mouth) are the best. Enjoy.
The Bravery (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1SG1XKF4)

And because I feel like stretching your musical boundaries that I know nothing about while not stretching them at all, I'm including my favorite movie soundtrack of all time - it's all electronica by Paul Oakenfold from the movie Swordfish. Dark Machine and things like Speed and Password are the best, and don't require your full attention while still showing you how cool things can sound.
