Hehe, guys.

Maria, maybe the girls will be better equipped to discussed this song, as I've never heard of it. No new developments as of yet. How was that Buddha Bar?

darea

Glad to see that our little discussion salon has been reopened, thanks Maria! I don't even know why they locked our old one.

Anyway... what's new? I didn't listen to the song, what is it?

And yeeeeah! waking up at 7.30 to good news about the elections is always nice. Now I really wanna go and live in the states just to escape from a bad president and welcome a new one! Well at least it's the first time since I was born (and since I'm in age of caring and followin the elections) that the person elected is the one I wanted! Okay, I didn't mind Clinton being president, at all, but at the time, I didn't care about the American elections.

So yeah, awesome!!!

The one confusing thing is that in france, blue represents the police, the right, all the bad things, and the red is the left, the socialists, the good people! And in America it's the opposite!

Iamstupid
11-08-2008, 06:49 AM
Hey guys and girls !

Actually the former Peace And hang was closed because there were too many responses, and when a thread reach 2000 responses, they've just decided to close it.

Anyway, does someone know what are Obama's project for a new America ?

Really, blue is for socialiste and red for the right ? Woah, seems strange. Red suits better socialists because they always want to rebel about the system so, red = revolution.

And no developments here aswell. I'm just thinking about registering into a university for my post-bac studies. Boring.

darea
11-09-2008, 11:58 PM
I know that red is communist in general. But even if socialist is pink, I still thought ther was red on one side and blue on the other. Like Red was left, and blue was right. At least that!? I guess it's sweet that socialist is pink!! lol

Well... Politics are complicated...

And I don't know much about Obama's projects, but there were a lot of good things (ecological etc) that he was offering to do in his campaign, and I hope he'll manage to do some of them. If he could make america more ecological, would be cool, also if he could fix the Health system so that it's cheaper and stuff...

And as an x-file fan... I really wonder if he might start doing less lying about these matters... But I doubt it. And he's not quite President yet.

Oooh, and I started watching the TV Show Roswell, it's so sweet... Okay it's more a thing for teenagers (like Buffy the vampire slayer) and I guess not everyone would like it, but I still think it's funny and sooo sweet ! lol I'd never watched it before, and now I'm gonna want all the seasons!!hehe

Hmm, so it's a national holiday there, too? Which one? It's Veteran's Day here!

Iamstupid
11-11-2008, 10:06 AM
She must be twingeing her guitar!

Hehe...Good guess !

I don't know either (or neither ?) what's this day is really about. Just something to remember these guys who passed away to defend their country...so silly in some kind of way. But hey, that's giving me a day off, so I won't complain :p

My history.geography teacher is skeptical about Obama. She thinks he's been elected only because he represents the American Dream and that he won't be able to satisfy everyone as people put too much in him.
That's what she thinks. And I don't think the same. Anyway.

Roswell...I remember this...Isn't that the story of some teenagers who are, in fact, some aliens doing their best to go back home, somewhere in the space ?

I don't remember that "marée rose". When was that ? (I'm not into politics, so I don't know what's going on). I just know that we scarcely let le pen being president (it had scared the fuck outta me)

Do we have a Veteran's Day in France Maria ?

I could have been online with my Randman yesterday, but the uni was closes so I couldn't!! BOOO and I spent all day preparing my linguistics oral with two friends, it's tomorrow morning!! I'm looking forward for it to end but then there's two more orals coming up and other homework I haven't done yet it's so annoying!!!

And my stoopid mp3 player has decided to stop working and I don't know what to do because I bought it england and I can't just take it to any shop in france to get it repaired? what do you suggest?

Iamstupid
11-12-2008, 09:42 AM
It's "either" btw, coz you said "I don't know" so you use the "do not" which is already a negation, a double negative being a positive you can't use "neither'... capisce? If any clarification is needed, ask. And more formally you could have used the phrase "Neither do I know"...

Yeah, I understood (at first reading ! )

Johanna, why don't you try changing the battery of your mp3 ?
No, seriously, try to take it to a french shop, it may work. Do you have a guarantee ? As England is in europe, maybe they can take it in france.
Good luck for oral exams and all the stuff :)

As for Lepen, even when you put aside his stupid ideas, I see no charisma in me but just a fat old guy whith a strange face (yeah, he has a strange face). Hitler had more charmisma, I think.

Yeah, Obama will be remembered as a better leader than Bush. But he will most of all be remembered, as he's the first black american president. Whatever he'll do, he entered in history on the last 4th November.

darea
11-14-2008, 12:22 AM
Yeah, I worried for nothing about my mp3 player, it just wouldn't charge on my mini stereo and then it worked when I charged it on my laptop, so I don't need to take it to a shop or anything.

My linguistic oral went well but we won't even be marked for it, it's just a thing we had to do to get more help for the 10 to 15 pages that we gotta write! Man! And there we were worrying about our oral, one of the girls was really bad at it, but my friend M.C. was good and speaks good english. And I'm always relaxed when I do an oral! It was cool cause two of my friends said they liked my part of the presentation more than the other two, so that made me feel better! lol

Iamstupid
11-15-2008, 10:28 AM
Aaaah, so everything is alright then :)

Great :) :)

I don't know how you do to be relaxed during an oral...I'm all the opposite, I feel great before the oral, I'm not worried and then the very day I have to pass it, I start worryig.
THat's what happened for my french oral exam, last june.
What's your method ? Do you eat something special ? Like panda meat or something go gather at midnight when the moon is full or whatever...

I'm with you, Sarah. I'm a nervous wreck whenever I have to speak in front of people, and I don't know why. Even as my heart is beating its way up through my throat, I tell myself that there's nothing to worry about because that's true. Haha, that mostly makes it worse. I always load up on panda meat before, but that never seems to help...

Hehe, nope not panda meat!! Basically I have a big advantage on everyone else : I speak perfect english. And I prepare my oral on paper with my friends, and we decide who's gonna say what and then it all goes easy.

Ok, so panda meat is unsucessfull. But I'm happy to see I' m not the only one to be nervous for nothing :p

What is that Graduation Ball/ceremony ?

darea
11-21-2008, 02:47 AM
I don't think I can afford to go to the Ceremony, as it cost a lot of money just to get there, and then I'll need to pay the special clothing and all. It would have been fun but I'm not all that interested in that kind of thing.

The graduation ceremony is when you dress up in those special clothes/robes and you know that special cap/hat (like you see in american movies or tv shows) and you get called to go and pick up your diploma.

Thanks for the nice weekend wishes!!!

Advice for those who don't clear/clean their flats/houses very often : clean it all up very thoroughly and you might get a check (with money) in the post!! My granny did a big house clearing, and she got a check of 500 euros from some firm in America... no idea where it was from. And I cleaned up my flat for the first time since I got it, and I got a 37,50 euros check. hey it's not that much but maybe it works for some people (called Feng Shui). Mine was my insurance company for my flat, sending me back some of the money I'd paid for the insurance, so I guess it was more easy to explain although I don't know why they gave it back. But my granny got 500 euros from the USA... and it's really random... lucky her!!

Maybe I'm crazy, but I see kids everywhere and I'm really looking forward to have some of my own! can't wait!

I believe it has been posted numerous times that all threads with more than 2,000 replies had to be closed because they were causing the forum's server to lock up and slow down. Going forward, we are going to have to close all discussions once they reach 2,000 replies. After that point, anyone interested in carrying on the discussion may create a new thread. No need to be snippy about it -- if you don't know and want to know why about anything, simply ask.

That's fine, I didn't know about it, but somebody already answered my question, I guess I didn't know because I don't go on all the threads so I wouldn't know. Not snippy about it or anything, don't worry! As long as it's okay to open a new thread and continue our discussion!!!

And for Maria, Feng Shui is something that mostly Chinese and Japanese people do (there's a lot more to it than cleaning the room), it doesn't especially work. I guess it's just a coincidence that after cleaning up her house , my granny got 500 euros in the mail! And the thing about it, is that it was a RARE event/thing, she hadn't cleaned her house so well in the 3 years since my grandfather died! so it was a BIG clean! and so was it a big clean in my flat... Guess it's when somebody does a big effort that they don't do usually. Not for those who clean up all the time, because they're already rewarded by a clean house!!! So I'm really not pulling your legs! lol it happened!! Guess you need to think about something else that needs cleaning that u haven't been doing.... maybe recycling old papers that you don't really need? lol I don't know!!!

Iamstupid
11-26-2008, 09:48 AM
No worries, Little_Miss_1565, I had read that a 2000 answers thread had to be locked : wink :

Oh yeah I thought it was that the Ball/Ceremony, I see it perfectly. I always thought it was something you had to go to, you know, like you're forced. I didn't know too that you had to pay the special dress and all.

Hehe, maybe that Feng Shui-thing is gonna work with me, I'm not much of a cleaner, and once I'll have cleaned my future house, I'll have 500€ in the post...great :p This would help me as I'm always looking for some money to offer myself a new guitar.

I'm against kids. Poor Johanna, you're alone here to be looking forward having one of those screaming-thing :D

Maria, is your friend going off to Argentina for long long time ? LIke for her whole life ? She's not scared of that ? How come she decided to go there while she speaks better italian ?

Hehe, almost alone.

Maria, I'm fascinated by your friend. What gumption! I admire her for making such a bold decision, though I'm pondering whether or not I'd do something like that. I do like to throw myself into situations, but I don't know. I think I'd much rather go to a country whose language I don't speak than, say, New York City.

Don't feel like you were very happy to go and live in france... if that had been an option. New York doesn't seem that bad... I guess I wouldn't be too much against living in a spanish speaking country... but there's so many english speaking places that english or french are good for me!! lol

I had a friend in highschool, who went to Mexico for a year, after she'd graduated (from highschool) and I never heard of her since. But I only knew her from school so that would explain why I didn't hear from her. I think she had spanish origins so her spanish must have been fine and I'm sure she had loads of fun.
I kinda like the idea of going off to a strange country (for holidays at least) cause its fun (the states, australia, whatever) but for me it would have to be to meet someone or going with someone, I don't really like going off on my own, I'd feel better if I'd done more Aikido than what I did, cause that would make me able to defend myself just in case...

I wasn't a screaming kid when I was little, I was nice and quiet, so that gives chances for our kids to be the same..; Hehe I'm thinking at least 2 kids, but if it goes well I might not mind going up to 5... I don't know, I don't want to horrify you girls!! hehe

Iamstupid
12-07-2008, 07:12 AM
Yeah I'm too much of a cleaner to be rewarded. This reminds me of christianity though... the way Jesus is the shepherd of sinners, because it's those who've sinned that need to be brought back in the fold, not the righteous men who reap their own rewards. Blah that sucks - in terms of cleaning that is, as I was hoping to get some dough as well...

Haha, well you'll get nothing but tiredness :D

And I'm with you on the screaming brats comment! No kids! Ban them! There's nothing like a kid to make you shout blue murder...

Yeah ! Ban them !

Maria, I'm fascinated by your friend. What gumption! I admire her for making such a bold decision.

Sure that this girl has guts, but if were in her shoes I'd go for aan english speaking english. Mari, does she have any reasons for making such a decisions ?

Lol! Nah no  We can start off with 2 kids and have at least 3, 5 is the maximum and I might wait till the other ones have grown up a bit more before having 5! The worse thing that could happen is that I have 2 kids, and the next time I have some, I have triplets or quadruplets... that would make it :eek: a bit harder! lol But I don't know anyone in my family who have had twins, so triplets is even less likely.

Yeah I heard about all the riots in Greece. I hope you're family is alright. I was pretty worried last year, when my granny (who's gonna be 80 next year) went on her own to Palestine last december till february 2008. But she was fine.

Yesterday one of my neighbours came over and she was saying she was friends with the sister of Christophe Maé (whom you might have heard of), my parents didn't know who he was !lol I just do because I see him on tv once in a while. Its funny to think that he's from around here, in the vaucluse.... lol

And here's a pic of me on the Mont Ventoux (le géant de Provence), from yesterday.

God, Darea, your neighboor is a friend of Christophe Maé's sister ? This guy totally sucks ! I'd were in his shoes I would shut it about my friendship with this girl :p ! No I'm kidding, maybe it's a nice girl. But still I wouldn't boast :D

Darea, I -and many others- have already told you, but you have wonderful eyes :) ! What are you doing at the mont ventoux ? Skiing ? What did your granny do in Palestine ? It's kinda dangerous, isn't it ?

Aww thanks:o If I showed you pics of when I was a kid, for some reason they were much more blue and beautiful than now... But they'd be embarassing too... lol

You're right Christophe Maé stucks pretty much, the woman wasn't boasting, just saying it cause she happened to be talking about his family and his name just popped out of the conversation. I guess it's better knowing him than someone from a crappy boyband like 2be3... lol

I was up the Ventoux with my cousins, they were sledging. I was just hanging around! lol And when my granny went to Palestine, it's because she got a job teaching english in a University in Jerusalem...

hehe I just did that stacking half an hour the first day and an hour and a half the second day. yeah my parents have always had a fireplace, so its not a hobby, just when I'm at home, they want me to help do the stacking. I think I'd have to do it everyday in the whole year before I get good biceps! lol For the few times I did a bit of exercise, it doesn't help me lose weight, get more supple or have biceps! lol

New years eve was cool. This was the best christmas holidays since my grandpa died (in 2004 or 5). And one of my best christmases all together. Cause there was my uncle Mike, and cousins Adam and Natalie, who are both teenagers now. And then after xmas, my uncle conrad came with my little cousin Mack (5yo) so its been cool, we had a family party plus 2 friends.

Happy New Year, babies and gents! Bonne et heureuse année pleine de... euh... bref... bonne année! Z'avez écouté/vu les voeux présidentiels? ça craint pour nous, hein?

Wow you stack logs, Johanna? (btw, wonderful eyes you've got there) what a fun pastime! I've never had a hearth, never burnt a fire myself and never came close to a real one either! Doesn't it just suck? I'm envious now!

Have only heard of Christophe Maé - don't have TV here, well I know I do have the net but it ain't the same, you can't just turn it on and hear the guy sing, fortunately for my ears, héhé - but well, SOMEONE has to be from SOMEWHERE I presume! And guess it's better than the 2be3 as Sarah mentioned, with her usual tongue-in-cheek humour :p

Biz, ladies! (and Randies :p )

Yeah Christophe Maé comes from my birth town : carpentras, one of the most shitty towns in france!

Hey y'all !

Happy new year ! (I'm not that late, am I?)

Lol, I'm not the one who mentionned the 2be3, I didn't even remembered they existed, Johanna did that :p
For the new year, I just drank two beers with my mother, while watching a DVD of The Rolling Stones in live in 1998. Quite incredible how much they rock after all this years. And we went to bed before midnight, and we ate a fondue today.
Also, I got the most beautiful of the guitars that can be found on this earth : a Jimmie Vaughan Stratocaster Signature, and I just totally love it !!! I called her Angie (after a Rolling Stones' song) and Lenny (yes, I give 2 names to my guitars :p) after a song/guitar/wife of Stevie Ray Vaughan, a guitarist whom I worship

Wow, Randy will have to be really nice with you Johanna if you get some biceps bigger than Scharwzenegger's. And, I thought the girl you mentionned was just boasting all around, but that's not the case (oops, I was wrong :D)

What did the wonderful (lol) Nicolas said ? I heard he wanted to forbide youngsters to pass their euh...permis de conduire because they burnt cars, but this doesn't concern you Maria ? (unless you're a fervent car-burner, which would be a puzzling revelation)

Have a lot of cool things and such things during this new year !

So Darea, how your classes are ?

UH apart from that, I'm just doing the same as usual : playing the guitar, tricking my way out of school (dunno if that is correct, I'm just trying to say that I try not to go school using different tricks, inventing excuses and all)

And about my guitar, that's a Fender Stratocaster Signature Jimmie Vaughan. The more I play it, the more I love it ! I still don't have a picture of it unfortunately, but I recorded a video where you can see a little bit of it (here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2w3-INmCTo )

Well after all we've made a social group for Randy's band (Fisticuffs) you can join it too Sarah, if you'd like. There's mostly Rutegard, Blitzkrieg bop, drummerbecca, Randy and I talking on it and its for the fisticuffs fans, lol!

So I don't think more people are gonna come on peace and hang it seems more like a place for french people to hang so far!!

This is a comic book I've just translated and if you wanna ask any questions about it, well I guess this is a good way of bringing "peace and hang" back to life.. or trying!
