I was sleeping and woke up to my entire neighborhood singing, chanting, and honking and when I went for a stroll everyone was high fiving and dancing on the street corners and every place you went everyone would wooooooooooooooooooooo when you walk in the door. I didn't even dig Obama that much but after last night I don't have the heart to let any pessimistic or realistic thoughts in right now I'm just so high and starry eyed on solidarity.

I was on the subway, and only got the announcement when I streamed MSNBC from home. It was pretty cool, but I guess in Canada it's not a big deal. No party for me, just beer and sleep.

Well, maybe a slight feeling of relief.

But then I had a dream John McCain won. Totally weird.

I'd just stumbled home when someone who'd stayed up all night watching the election stuff on the news here explained to me what had happened. It was a nice way to finish my night.

In my living room, with my housemates; we had a little media center going (two tvs, four laptops). Basically i spent my whole evening either glued to the TV or various blogs.

At work. Some came in and mentioned it rather nonchalantly, though he (or she; I can't remember) was pulling for Obama. It would have been better for me to be working if he lost, but now, I would have liked to see all the coverage.

At the hospital, watching the Canucks game on my laptop, CNN on tv, waiting for my new nephew to be born!

It was quite the day!

Too late. I notified the proper authorities and any threat to the president's (or future president's) live is taken very seriously. Even if you are in Australia.

My friends and I watched V for Vendetta, drank a whole lot of beer, and then switched to the news to keep track of the election. I however went to bed at 3 am and woke up to find that Obama had won.

It was a great night.

It really was exciting to watch it all happen. He went from like 100 electoral votes to winning in minutes. It was insane! Then the screams across campus started up and didn't stop till like 2am.

I enjoy dual citizenship, so yes I voted per absentee ballot. (although in the runup to the election they tried to take my right to vote!)

Excuse me, but what the fuck are you talking about? Obama held a steady lead all night long and was sitting at 209 electoral votes for what seemed like forever until West Coast polling ended.

Oh, and I was at home watching CNN. Then I solo'd a bottle of champagne during Obama's speech.

We were taking down a shelving wall at work (Wal-Mart) when the guy I was working with answered his phone and got the news and told us. Pretty fitting end for the type of day I was having.

I was asleep in bed as well. I didn't hear that he won until I got on the train and saw the front of The Metro. I would have checked out Sky News or put the radio on when I got up, but there was no doubt to me that Obama would win.

Uhuh.. I stayed up until 2.30 until I realised that I was too tired to stay up 'til the end of it. I wouldn't do that if it were Dutch elections though, those are soooo boring compared to the U.S. elections.

...and saw the front of The Metro. Is that newspaper called The Metro everywhere? I thought it had different names in different countries.

I don't know to be honest. "Metro" is a pretty universal word, so it could just be a coincidence; like "Observer", "Times" and "Sun".

No, there is an international fre newspaper in Euroe called Metro. Although in Denmark it's called MetroXpress. Same logo though.

I was sleeping when it happened. But I woke up at 7.30 AM (french time) to catch the end of the news to see. I didn't want to wake up in the middle of the night with the risk of bad news and even good news might have kept me awake!
