Ok so this is purely hypothetical but hey I get stupid questions stuck in my head all the time and I just gotta let 'em out.

Ok so everyone who'd regularly visit these forums would know that The Offspring were originally called Manic Subsidal (for like 3 seconds) and I think they only wrote 4 or 5 songs under that name (I've heard that Hopeless was the only song recoreded in a studio under that name). Anyways if they made a small disk with just their MS songs and titled it Manic Subsidal... how well do you think it'd sell and how many people do you think would know who the band really is? Granted they wouldn't be set at the price of a full length album (that'd be silly).

Make no big comotion about it; just sell it small time like they used to with Nemisis and Epitaph. It's purely hypothetical. I'm just curious if they'd sell well.

Waddaya guys think?

Probably not much more than 10-20 thousand.

That's a great question! I dunno. Hardcore fans, such as myself, will fight tooth and nail to own that album!

If it's only a few songs, it may be something that comes free with the pre-ordering of a full-length album. Kinda like what happened with Greatest Hits, you got Club Me with that, as well as a T-shirt.

That's something they need to think about doing!

I think most of the fans (at least around here) would buy that for sure.

i dont think it would sell very well purely due to the fact its only really offspring fans that know about the old name. if they advertised it in connection with the offspring it would sell a lot more!

I think it would sell well among harder core punk fans and that 1% of the population would know that it's the Offspring.

Probably as well as The Network's only album. The Network consists of Green Day and some few other under a different name, and I think no one bought it except for the Green Day fans (though it was a pretty good album IMO).

Wasn't it Green Day mixed with some members of Devo? I didn't even know they released an album.

No it was Green Day plus three of the touring members (one of the touring members is also a member of Pinhead Gunpowder, Billie Joe's other band).
The album is called Money Money 2020 and it's pretty good! You should buy it!

They could title it whatever they like. I'd just like to get hard copies of all their earliest stuff. There's really no way to have hopeless (to my knowledge).
I just think it'd be nice if they clumped all the MS songs together and sold them.

Look at Associated Acts on the right:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Day

EDIT: What Wikipedia hasn't included under Associated Acts is that Billie Joe have been a member for Common Rider and Rancid and played and made songs on a 7" EP for both bands.

Common Rider: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Rider
