I always wondered something..... (insert dumb blonde joke/comment here)

How come Can't Repeat is ONLY on The Greatest Hits album? I thought Greatest Hits was that... Greatest Hits. Am I making any sense at all?

When releasing a greatest hits, bands often include one or two previously unreleased tracks to entice fans, who otherwise own all their other albums to purchase the record.

Also, it was included to be released as a single, to receive airplay, which would draw attention to the greatest hits from casual/new fans.

I think a lot of artists (maybe even all) put a new song or two on their Greatest Hits album. I guess it's to give the consumer incentive to buy it. Die hard fans generally wouldn't want to buy a GH album if they have all the songs on previous albums. I mean, I would, but maybe not most people. ;)

EDIT: Defeated.

Hmm. I think it makes it pretty clear why they put the song on there, to show that they're 'keeping on'. And thats just one to show ya. :D

I don't know. To me I always thought that "Greatest Hits" were songs that were super popular and made into an album - of their Greatest Hits.

Therefore I always wondered why Can't Repeat was never released on any of the albums.

Learn something new everyday I suppose. Thanks.

My guess is that Can't Repeat was written after Splinter and wasn't right for RAFRAG. Either that, or they wrote it specifically for the GH.

There have been a few threads discussing it in the past; I'm pretty sure Dexter wrote the lyrics for it during his flight around the world. I always assumed that musically, it was written during the Splinter sessions, but i don't have anything to back that up.

I always thought "Can't Repeat" would be on the follow-up to Splinter until Dexter made the announcement saying that RAFRAG would only contain all-new material.
