Yo, my first post here, and it goes out in question for the ex drummer Ron Welty.
I find it quite wierd for the band not to put any information at all about his whereabouts, i mean he was in the band for 18 years or so.
I've allways liked his style, so i wonder if anyone knows if he's in a new band, and if so, what name?

Cheers

He is a new band called Steady Ground. Why should offspring say something about him? He is not part of the band anymore.

How can you even ask that question?
He was their drummer for 18 years (maybe 19).
They could of said: "good luck in the future Ron, we'll miss you".
Or atleast anything!

Thanks for the information though, i'll check them out.

www.steadyground.com (http://www.steadyground.com/) - its said for like over a year now that mp3's will be 'online soon'. Haha, I reckon they've got the same webdude that this official site used to have. Either that, or they've failed to record anything decent in a year. :D

They did say that. And I`m convinced they still have contact with each other. So don`t get me wrong, but it was his own decision to form a new band, so why should you feel sad for him?

Exactly my point
But come on. everyone knows that dexter does everything
I would last in a band like that

Same here probably, but then we don't know, we haven't been in the band. Being a drummer can be very boring if you're playing similar beats day in, day out.

I bet Greg enjoys that situation, he's always like "whatever", you give him riffs, he'll play them.

Ha yeah, good ol' Greg. He's a legend.

His little jig always make me laugh too....I've got the bassist in my band to do that whenever play offspring songs in band practice now :D

yeah, Ron played mostly the same drum beats again and again. If you hear the piece that comes on when you enter steadyground.com, Its pretty funky. I can get down to that. yeah oh yeah uh uh oh

its pretty good though. you have to admit. This Steady Ground aint no Extended version of the Offspring (not saying the offspring are bad. Would I be here if it were true?)

Hysteria

Of course not.

Yeah, it sounds alright. Drumming is a bit boring though. But I'm sure its good in the rest of the song.

You don't pay a lot of attention to what you read do you? When they announced he was leaving the band, they said he had formed a side project called Steady Ground.
As for how that's going, well, if you go by the BBS or the website, Steady Ground isn't getting off the ground as yet.

Aye, he retired from music two months ago in favour of raising a pickle farm in Yorkshire.

Ron says it was his decision, everyone else says it was theirs, it doesn't really matter. It seems like the split was the best thing for all involved. I miss Ron in the Offspring, but he seems much happier with Steady Ground so more power to 'im.

Obviously i simply missed it, if i had read it i probably never would of started this thread.
When i first heard of the news of a new drummer i checked the website and i saw an article on Atom, but i never saw anything on Ron, so therefor i took for granted they skipped that part.
Now, after these replies i know better.

Alright we get it, Welty was a kickass drummer. Nobody could replace the original drummer but he wanted to do Steady Ground as a side project. I dont know the entire story but I dont think that The Offspring would be like "Hey yo Welty get your ass outta the band, were replacing you with Atom Willard" right??????????

Shouldnt that be a comma instead of a full stop? Playing to 10 people isnt very impressive
