Only a select few Offspring songs seem to work at parties. Not many. Self-Esteem usually goes over well. Possibly The Kid's Aren't Alright, depending on the crowd. I've never tried Pretty Fly or WDDYGAJ, but I have a feeling it wouldn't go down that well. Maybe I'm forgetting one or two, but that's about it as far as Offspring songs go.

Gimmie the Loot- Notorious BIG

YES!!!

Sweet Child of Mine- Guns N Roses

NO!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a random collection of songs I've either played at parties or been very excited to hear come on at parties I've attended:

Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.
Ratatat - Seventeen Years
Rod Lee - Dance My Pain Away
T.I./Jay-Z/Lil Wayne/Kanye West - Swagga Like Us
Depeche Mode - John the Revelator
The Faint - Your Retro Career Melted

Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.

I LOVE hearing Feel Good Inc. at parties. But Sweet Child of Mine is definitely a better song to hear at a bar, I should have specified. Unless you just straight up don't like that song at all of course.

That would be the case with me.

Oh, and a surprisingly good bar song: Heavy by Collective Soul.

Most of the stuff i hear, are top 40 popsongs at parties, just because that seems to be what most people like.

Funny enough, at one a little while ago, Pretty Fly came on, and the whole house started singing along, i guess it was the nostalgia.

I was at a "Bad'n'Plaid" party last week, and someone started playing the Bosstones, "The Impression That I Get", which i thought was pretty cool.

For the Offspring songs: Pretty Fly, Want You Bad, Self Esteem, Spaire Me The Details, Why Don't You Get A Job, Hit That all go great. We got a whole party involved in dancing once just playing those Offspring songs.

As for the others:
Hot 'N Cold- Katy Perry
Sex On Fire- Kings Of Leon
You Shook Me All Night Long- ACDC (it's unaustralian if you don't play an ACDC song at a party)
Dammit- Blink-182

and I can't believe I almost forgot:
Living On A Prayer- Bonjovi

Living On A Prayer- Bonjovi

Allow me to say once again: YES!!!

Though I must say, You Give Love a Bad Name > Livin' On a Prayer, though both are godly.

Hot 'N Cold- Katy Perry

This.

I can't explain it, there is just something about the chorus.

You Shook Me All Night Long- ACDC (it's unaustralian if you don't play an ACDC song at a party)

Um no it's not.

Living On A Prayer- Bonjovi

Absolutely!

You Give Love a Bad Name > Livin' On a Prayer

No chance in hell. If I were even to mention You Give Love a Bad Name I'd have to stick it in after It's My Life as well.

My own list would include:
All Michael Jackson hits (particularly Beat It)
Bryan Adams - Summer of 69
Inner Circle - Bad Boys
Limp Bizkit - Rollin
D12 - Purple Pills
Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody

It's also nothing short of embarrassing when someone puts on an Offspring song for me at parties, because what follows is a whole lot of ribbing about how big a fanboy I use to be.

I know. I love it. I know all the lyrics for the whole song.

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell and many others hits.
Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch
Nine Inch Nails - We're In This Together (as weird as it may sound)
Pain - Shut Your Mouth
The Offspring - Why Don't You Get A Job?

A lot of stuff already being mentioned, I would like to point out that from the new Offspring songs, everytime I play YGGFK, people go wild! Tested several times on parties.

There's like a lot more. But half the songs I'd like to hear at parties probably won't happen unless I make the mix myself. These are the songs that have came on in the past and made the night a little bit better.

Jumper - Third Eye Blind
Can I Kick It? - A Tribe Called Quest
What Up Man - The Cool Kids
Seventeen Years - Ratatat
Superstar - Lupe Fiasco
Sweetness - Jimmy Eat World
The Choice Is Yours - Black Sheep
El Scorcho - Weezer

Anything multiple people can sing along with.

I was at a semi-party a week ago and one kid was playing another's little sister's guitar with only 5 strings and he played Wonderwall, Good Riddance and some other awesome sing along song.

You know, we don't typically play music at parties.

Hmm... I can't decide how I would organize the Bon Jovi trifecta!

I think Party Up by DMX might be a good party song. I dunno though...DMX is pretty irrelevant.

More people should contribute to this thread so I get more ideas:).

That's true, I've been at parties where his music is playing, and it is pretty cool. The only song I know is "Party Hard" though.

I approve.

Anyway, this is a good thread. I like:

Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody
Snoop Dogg- Gin and Juice
Flo Rida featuring Timbaland- Elevator (as horrible as his other stuff is, I actually LOVE this song. Although the lyrics are awful.)
MGMT- Time to Pretend
A-Ha- Take On Me
Slightly Stoopid- Sweet Honey
Anything by Ratatat
Dr. Dre and Eminem- Forgot About Dre
Def Leppard- Pour Some Sugar On Me
And as unoriginal as this is, M.I.A.- Paper Planes

New category: Songs I HATE hearing at parties

RHCP- Snow (Hey Oh)
Dragostea Din Tei
Journey- Don't Stop Believin'
Gym Class Heroes- Cupid's Chokehold
This list could go on forever.
