How are you defining what a “90s band” is? One that simply puts albums out during the decade, formed, or put out their best/well known work during the decade?

With these, some of them may not be my favorite band ever, but any time that I listen to one of their albums or songs, I automatically get in a nostalgic mood.

Nirvana
Aqua
Green Day
Rage Against the Machine
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Lagwagon
Oasis
Prozzac
Blur
Beastie Boys

*Offspring are not included for obvious reasons.
**No specific order

Oddly enough, the first groups to come to mind from the 90s were rap groups...

In kind of an order:

10. Fugazi
9. Jawbreaker
8. Nirvana
7. N.W.A.
6. A Tribe Called Quest
5. Neutral Milk Hotel
4. Ghostface Killah
3. Beck
2. Wu-Tang Clan
1. The Mountain Goats (oh come on, they kinda count, right?)

Okay, so The Mountain Goats were releasing cassette tapes throughout the 90s that no one ever heard until the 2000s, when they were all uploaded to the internet. Whatever, they totally count.

Alt List: Move everything down one and slap Green Day on as #10. Bite me.

5.L7

suprised to see them here, i only know one song, and thats because of Rock Band and GTA: San Andreas

BTW, my definition of a '90s band is someone who got their big break in the '90s, didn't necessarily start in that decade (The Offspring are a near perfect example)

Yeah, the San Andreas song was 'Pretend We're Dead' from 92, that was also the first one i heard of them. But i think their 1990 and 1997 albums are better.
