Do you have friends of many different heritages and different walks of life?

No, but that's entirely their fault.

I have a gay friend, a black friend, and an arabic friend. That is all I'll ever need.

edit: If that wasn't enough, my best friend is Japanese and Native American.

What? Where's the token handicapped freind?

03-25-2009, 05:41 PM
My friends aren't really all that diverse. My close friends really aren't diverse at all. I guess it has something to do with the area I live in.

...all three of those are handicaps.

My three best friends include my Scandinavian/Arabic friend, my Canadian buddy and a Mexican named willie.

I know people from all over. My home town is a mega tourist attraction so it’s not surprising.

My friends are fairly diverse, especially considering that I come from a rather homogenous country.

I have one friend who was born in Queens, New York, but she's lived in Ireland most her life.
A few friends who were born in England.
A friend who's half Iraqi(I think....).

As far as heritage wise, thats as diverse as my friends go.
Then, I have one or two gay friends.
Musicwise, all my friends seem to share the sameish music taste. Me being the only one who likes punk:(

haha! i guess my friends are super super diverse. I hang out with a bunch of people in the exchange program here. my main group includes a russian (used to be a guy from uzbekistan as well but he's gone back home), a colombian, a guy from ecuador (used to be two but one went home :(), two saudi arabian guys, and my russian friend tells me there is a nice venezuelan guy who just moved in on the floor where the saudi guys live. we all live in the same building

Most of my friends tend to have very different attitudes toward life. Different beliefs, ideas, religions, etc, etc. I have conservative and liberal, gay and straight, science driven and arts driven, extremely educated and less educated, partying and relaxing friends...
If we're talking about having friends from other countries, well I have friends from: Guatemala, Brazil, Finland, Croatia, Germany, Austria, New Zealand, Sweden, Canada, Mexico, Scotland, India, Norway, Bosnia, Spain, Holland, and Bulgaria. Some live in Minnesota from these countries, others I became friends with while abroad so I don't get to see them anymore.

On the whole, I'd say my friends are fairly diverse. My friend group used to be a lot more homogeneous up until about four years ago, but I've branched out a lot I guess, mostly due to a sheer interest in getting to know people who live differently than I do.

i have some hippie friends(i would hate them for being hippies if they wouldn´t carry great weed :p),i had a squizophrenic(or however you spell that) girlfriend

It's funny, all of the people I talk to on a regular basis (of which there are three) are Canadian.

Just taking a gander into homogeneity. Expand the circle to include people I hang out with every so often and you've got a Chinese girl and a slav.

It's not a choice - I grew up as part of a white numeric minority, and I was the only French one, so I've never really had friends that were like me. Even now, if I made French friends I would never have friends that are like me. Growing up, friends were mostly Asian with a few Australians, British, Americans, a Canadian or two. If you count South Asia as different from Asians (which a surprising amount of people do) there there were Indians and Vietnamese people too.

A couple of Middle Eastern friends.

But not really anymore. My circle of friends has shrunk.

I just reread the thread title as "Are your friends drivers?"

Same here! I was going to answer ‘Yea, some can drive, illegally.’ Would make for a good thread on cars and motorbikes though.

25% of my housemates are asian.

Of my two best friends... one is a pastor's wife, the other is wiccan.

They are not diverse in a stand alone sense, but they are about as opposite as you can get.

04-05-2009, 06:01 AM
Definitely. Different nationalities, different ages, different stages in life...it's all over the place. But I get along the best with those who are my age...I guess I shouldnt be surprised but I am. :/
