When you want to discuss something, and you search the forums for a similar topic, and you find it, should you revive it even if it is 5 years old, or should you make a similar thread?

In short terms:
Making new thread vs revive 5 years old thread

In the forum rules, we said if a thread is more than six months old it's fine to post a new thread rather than bumping the old one.

But should it be prevented to revive threads older than 6 months then?

Not necessarily. Sometimes you're bumping a really old thread that's hilarious or somehow became relevent again.

I don't really care that much, so if I see an interesting discussion that took place a while ago and want to put in my two cents, I'll bump it anyway in the hopes it starts up again. But that's not good etiquette unless you got something really worth reading to say.

6 months, eh?

It does kinda bother me, but if they are new I just let it roll off.

I don't really care.
As long as you're not reviving for the sole purpose of reviving it shouldn't become a problem.

6 months is more of a guideline. It also depends on the subject of the thread or the reason for bumping.

I bumped an age old thread a few weeks ago, because I'm a pitty dude.. but it worked out fine :)

I wouldn't start a new thread, if I did it, it would be the same thing, and it will become an uninteresting thread...

I don't want to open a new thread but I cannot scroll down in the tour section of offspring.com. Has someone else the same problem?

Maybe you use Opera? I had the same problem.

Bumping old threads is only bothersome to me if you are just saying "lol" OR if you are flipping out on someone that made an argument 2 years ago and you are acting like it was yesterday.

I use IE 8. I can scroll down but I can't pass Pompano Beach.
