If anyone knows of a good free program (or a means of getting a paid one without torrents), please let me know how. I can't seem to put songs together without drums.

Haha. Well, if it really comes to it, I may end up going the torrents rout. Problem is this isn't my PC it's like my family's, so if they saw a torrent program they wouldn't be very happy. Though I suppose I could just install one, download, then uninstall the program.

What conscientious parents you have. Heh, I actually respect that.

I always recommend Hydrogen. It's free and decent.

i'm trying to decide if i want to install hydrogen on this school computer just to fool around with right now. i wont be able to uninstall it though so it's probably not a good idea. but i'm gonna grab it as soon as i get home.

http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=hydrogen&filename=hydrogen-windows-installer-20060309.exe&use_mirror=voxel

click on download Hydrogen. If this doesnt work i get my flash stick to upload the .exe file

hydrogen is the only drum kit i know bout. I had no problems with the sound quality. Make sure you fool around with with master controls to improve volume and make sure you export the drum beat to a .wav when your done. I tried .midi and it sounded like shit.

Haha, yeah. The drums could be a bit better, for sure. I have a shit load of drum samples that I downloaded a while back. I paid for 'em, though, so I doubt you can find them anywhere on the netz for free. I could upload some of them if you want. How's your connection?

EDIT: There are other Hydrogen kits you can get for free, but you'd have to be better with that kind of stuff than I am, because I couldn't get any of them to work.

EDIT: Yeah, Jay. The MIDI export was not impressive. I'm hoping that it's just because the samples in Hydrogen aren't set up on the right MIDI notes (ie kick drum on C3, snare on E3, etc). It could be very useful if done right.
