Awesoooooome! The Pete thing doesn't really surprise me, but the whole article just brings back that "April 11, 2008" feeling for me. Just in the interest of curiosity, I'd love to know which songs were left off CO1 and Splinter if they use them on the new album.

Awesome! I can't wait to hear Pete on an album.
When I first opened the forums, I only saw " BREAKING NEWS: Pete will be...", and I thought it would be about him leaving :( I was thinking "Not another one!"

I think Dexter or Noodles should write a tour journal soon. Or just something to fill us in on the happenings. That'd be pretty sweet.

Now I think,we can expect Pass Me By on the next album.....and the other unreleased stuffs from Splinter recording and Conspiracy of One :) Iīm looking forward to it :)

Fucking sweet. I'll have other new albums to hold me over until then.

"He's great," Noodles says. "We haven't actually done any real recording with him yet, but we're looking forward to that. He's a great drummer. He's got great ideas, just really on top of things. Nothing fazes him; we'll throw something at him, 'Hey, do this,' and, 'OK...' He's a really nice guy and just a real powerhouse drummer, so we're looking forward to working with him."

We all know that Pete is an awesome drummer and I am definitely looking forward to having him on the new album ... so nice of Noodles to confirm this and give his stamp of approval of Pete's abilities.

I'd post about my excitement, but every time I try, I picture Dexter sitting at his computer, reading the forum and thinking "Hahaha, they're totally buying it."

Yay! We have an official drummer! In that news, I like what Pete does to the drum beat on SIMU live.

I'm rather excited that they are revisiting unused stuff clear back to CO1. I really hope they come up with some good stuff.

Yeah! Those toms just pop right out atcha in the beginning. I also like the way they ended Gone Away a little differently those few times. I bet those are all Pete's ideas.

This is great news. Having a new, permanent drummer will bring normalcy to the band; plus Pete seems like a really nice guy and is a good fit.

Also, very cool to hear they'll be revisiting some older songs, but remember guys, this doesn't mean that Pass Me By or whatever will be on the new record, he just means that they may take a riff or drumline from these older outtakes, not the old songs in their entirety. The bit about reaching back as far as CO1 for these outtakes is also quite interesting.

This is not "breaking news". And we can still make him leave the band.

Whoa, good news! I haven't really heard Pete's studio stuff, but I'm hoping he does a great job, most people seem to like his stuff.
A shame that there probably won't be more stuff with Josh on drums, I really do enjoy the work he did on RAFRAG and Splinter. But, time rolls on, can't hold on, turn the page... I'm sure Pete will be great, too!

the interesting thing from that article was the statement that pete had lots of good ideas, i thought that was partly why ron left - he wasnt given much input?!

Yeah, I'm thinking unless Bob Rock goes "holy shit this song is awesome PUT IT ON THE RECORD", they're going to change the stuff they use to make it better. After all, there's probably a reason the songs weren't on the records in the first place.

That's great that they're putting out another record so soon. I'm sure there will be a lot of people excited for it now that they've made some fans with the younger generation.

I totally approve of his playing in general with the offspring. He adds such a (yes I'm gonna say it) personal flair to it all thats ... refreshing!

Could some mod please take the BREAKING NEWS: out of the topic...

it's very distracting.. I always think it's some important breaking news and infact it's not even breaking, it's broken and it isn't even news.

To be fair, everything except the drummer part was pretty breaking. It's stuff we didn't know before, anyway.

Doesn't breaking news mean that it's still developing we are waiting for details and it's some hot shit?

I'm sorry but I don't find it extraordinary that the band will play Australia again.. seeing as they love to do it, and have played it like at least twice with every album since Smash. Am I wrong?
