Well, let us think here, they have to have their set already choosen because of all the light effects and so, right? Or not? isn't that move just a great idea from some marketeer ?

Haha probably. Figured I'd post just to let u know. I'd personally put
Serious money on the setlist being the same

Edit: ps it yelled at me for voting twice

oh god,i couldnīt choose between "l.r." and "burn it up",such a waste if they pick "walla walla" :p

Here is the setlist for tonight,
Noodles announced the song that won the voting was Mota -sorry guys - i was hoping
(sadly I couldn't get a video of it, I was up in front by greg k but making sure my 14 year old cousin at his first offspring show was doing alright - and fucked up because I couldn't tell what i was doing with the camera).

Set list
(it may be a bit messed up - going off of memory here)

Stuff Is Messed Up
Bad Habit (interrupted by someone getting hurt)
You're Gonna Go Far, Kid
Come Out and Play
Mota
Have You Ever
Staring at the Sun
Gone Away
Kristy Are you doing okay?
GENOCIDE
Half Truism
Why Don't You Get A Job
Intermission
Americana
All I Want
Pretty Fly
Head Around You
The Kids Aren't Alright

Encore:
Hammerhead
Want You Bad
Self Esteem.

Pit was pretty good but a lot of dropkick murphys fans that I got the distinct impression didn't know the words to all the songs (for example me getting SUPER excited about Genocide and people around me maybe not being so into it hahaha... though not to say this show wasn't without its hardcore fan base).

So, I did in fact get a video of Genocide on my camera (though i did miss Mota) and i took like two pictures but I was really crammed in there.
When I return to California Monday I'll try to find my camera cord and upload things (and finally upload Irvine show stuff too).

In any case it appears the texting thing was legit so be on the look out for that in future shows and we'll start a campaign to get lightning rod or meaning of life or one of the other randoms
(I took a picture of that too)

I also decided, since I always try to get Greg K to say something in the mic (never gonna happen :-/) to take a "GREG K! Say Hi!" sign that got him laughing during the first song... gonna keep that trend up hahaha

umm... thats all I can remember for now... dropkick murphys were pretty awesome too.

oh dammit, both "lightning rod"and "burn it up" were better choices than "mota" :(

hshduppsnt
06-20-2009, 11:33 PM
^ Agreed - I did my best to get people around me to vote for Lightning Rod, actually got a few, another few voted for Burn it up,

but the pro-Mota crowd has been pretty big at these shows of late

EDIT: It's fun watching pete drum through that one though so :)

renato piquette
06-20-2009, 11:35 PM
well, hopefully theyīll play them at other shows, but iīd rather see them playing "gotta get away" again

hshduppsnt
06-20-2009, 11:36 PM
I think the key is for people to be on the look out for that though, if they keep that up, I bet we could start a campaign to get lightning rod played.

then hopefully someone will record it...

Hey man, sounds like a great show! Glad you had a fun time!

The problem with these voting things, is that people always tend to vote for the traditionally most popular songs. Bad Religion did a similar thing a little while ago, and they ended up playing the same songs they usually do since that's what people vote for. Still, we can hope that somehow we get something a little more obscure at future shows. I'd love to hear them break out something from Ignition.

hshduppsnt
06-20-2009, 11:46 PM
ok, i'll upload the picture later but just like in st. paul it turns out,
you could text what to have them play
the songs on this list were not the same as the last list (damn i'd like to hear trust in you, really people? spare me the details over that?! - i guess personal preference).

Set list Choices

Genocide
Gotta Get Away
Meaning Of Life
Mota
Walla Walla
Spare Me The Details
Burn It Up
Lightning Rod

Not only do I think this is a cool thing (damn them for knowing how many times we vote ;)) but its cool that it really leaves a song up to the fans!

I was surprised to see this but its kinda awesome, hope they keep it up!

EDIT: anyway I'm going to crash - still can't believe I flew to chicago to hang out with family for half a week
and take a friend and my cousin to their first offspring show - then I'm flying back to california hahaha...

EDIT 2: unlike my last video attempt that failed because I'm clearly singing too loud next to my camera
my genocide recording turn out awful... though again when I get it off my camera I'll upload it... just don't be too excited for it :-/

EDIT3: ok last one hahaha - jacknife, you're right, i was surprised myself Mota won, I knew there was no way I was going to get lightning rod on there... which is why I took the time to post on here ;) hahahaha

Nah, most of that stuff goes digitally anyway. They can easily adapt, just like when they decide to skip a song because of time constraints or because they simply forgot it.

GENOCIDE

I also decided, since I always try to get Greg K to say something in the mic (never gonna happen :-/) to take a "GREG K! Say Hi!" sign that got him laughing during the first song... gonna keep that trend up hahaha

Haha awesome. We should get a meme going where all bbs members carry such a sign to their concerts ;). Nice to see genocide getting regular on the setlist!
And ow yeah, this was like your 6th offspring concert or something in less than a year? Sweeeet.

Indeed, if certain other singles would be on there, they'd probably win... even Hit That, but it seems they dislike that song anyway which is good news. They should just put like pretty fly, self esteem or wdygaj on that list, since they play those anyway those songs would capture the throw away votes =p. Still pretty cool that they are doing this though, cause it'll probably always be a competition between walla walla, mota and spare me the details if those are on there.

what exactly happened during Bad Habit?

During the Murphy's show, there was a seizure victim, stopped the show...I was right next door. DUring the offspring set, some kid fell down...also within the vicinity of me. I think its just bad luck to be around me @ a show lol. Made it to the front though, was accidentally all over this girl trying to record videos, rough ass show. I'm still hurtin'. They put on a truely amazing performance.

I kept hearing "what's that guy's sign say?"
and in response "I dunno, greg k say hi? I don't get it" hahaha
that was almost worth it by itself - but getting greg k to laugh was pretty priceless too :D

Yeah I was pumped they played Genocide - wasn't expecting it - especially after hearing Mota already.

That would be pretty amusing - or have everyone make t-shirts or something.

Also haha yes - if you count it up it is something insanely high like that :)
definitely making up for not living in humboldt any more!
(Not just the Offspring either - been hitting up a lot of concerts while in LA)
That being said not sure how i'd be getting to any more so I think I'm done for a bit hahahaha - I am still a poor grad student after all

hey, what is the setlist in Cleveland?

Mike_911
06-22-2009, 02:39 PM
Same as Chicago in Cleveland but instead of Mota and Genocide they played Walla Walla and Gotta Get Away. Both shows were awesome. They took Lightning Rod off the text thing yesterday and had Can't Repeat instead and they had Spare Me The Details instead of Burn It Up..

I am really hoping for Lightning Rod

Why the hell would you want to hear [The Worst Hangover Ever]?!

Statistically, some people had to really like that song. It's fun to listen to every once and again. I listened to it a couple weeks ago for the first time in something over a year and I enjoyed it.
