Weezer's got a new album coming out this year and said on their official website (http://www.weezer.com/blog/default.aspx?nid=22199) that they're almost done working on it. Here's what they said:

The bands 7th album, title TBA, is pretty close to a wrap now (after a mild false alarm back in the spring), though there is some work yet remaining to be done. There have also been some other special weezer studio recordings done recently, but more on that later.

Didn't they cover poker face at live shows? After that I lost all respect for them.. but I'll still pick up the new album.

I hope this one is better. The last one was kinda disappointing aside from 2 or 3 songs.

Yeah, the first 5 tracks off the Red Album were good and the rest were boring.

They also played another new song called "Can't Stop Partying" there, so that's three.

the new songs are so bad. Beverly Hills sounded better than those tracks.

I liked the use fo the "woahs", and the newer songs were somewhat catchy.

However, the lyrics are so fucking awful. This band is becoming a parody of itself.

The band made this announcement (http://www.weezer.com/blog/default.aspx?nid=22461) yesterday saying that the new album will be out October 27h.

Wikipedia says it'll be another self titled ("The Yellow Album")

I'm pretty sure that's some joker wikipedia editor. Most if not all of the citations are unrelated to the claims.

The Red Album was enjoyable in spite of its flaws, but the next album really need to be a step up. Since the videos seem to be gone, I can only go by the song titles, and if those reflect the actual song content, then fuck, this is the worst birthday present ever.

Also, Can't Stop Partying isn't new, it was on Alone II, and seems to follow the second half of the Red Album's formula of "okay, this instrumental is cool... but what the FUCK are they singing?"

ThunderPX; your link didn't work for me.

You can also listen to a stream of it here; http://supjustin.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=331:stream-weezers-new-single

If someone could rip and upload it, i'd really appreciate it.

As for the song itself; i like it. Don't care for the lyrics, but it's pretty damn catchy. I'm actually getting kind of excited for the album, but i shouldn't get my hopes up too much, i suppose.

I really, really don't like how Rivers has been singing since about the Green Album. Even on their catchier songs like the new single, his voice (and the band as a whole, really) lacks the charm that made me fall in <3 with him way back in the day.

Alex101 constantly proves himself an idiot...

I'm not really a fan of the new single. It's not about Rivers' singing to me, but the music itself. This is sooooo boring/bland. It's worse than Pork and Beans... maybe tied with Beverly Hills.

I actually really like the album cover and title. And the three songs I heard were kinda lame and generic, but sounded like they were at least legitimately having a good time, which puts this miles ahead of anything they've done in years. Dunno if that actually means much though.

I got the vibe that the lyrics were supposed to be tongue in cheek. I might have been imagining that though.

There are also people who think Rivers is serious when he sings "I am the greatest man that ever lived."

But seriously, I didn't get most of the Red Album hate until I realised people thought all the lyrics were serious business.

I get that, but some are still cringe worthy.

I am somewhat excited for the album though; i think the single, Girl Got Hot, and Can't Stop Partying (the worst lyrics of the bunch) are all ridiculously catchy.

As for the red album; i liked the first five or so songs.

The whole deluxe album leaked today. I'm probably in the minority, but I actually think it's really good. More consistent than Red but never as good as red's highs, is what I think first listen. Trippin' Down the Freeway right now is my favorite song.

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5134317/Weezer_-_Raditude_(Deluxe_Edition)_2CD_2009_YOURCANADiANFR iENDS

I don't have a direct download. Theres no song I outright hate, but Can't stop partying, the song featuring Lil Wayne, kinda sucks IMO. Maybe it'll grow on me.

I love the first single and the video, too.

Don't compare it to Blue and Pinkerton, and realize it's essentially just pop music. It's good pop music, IMO.

ThunderPX
10-26-2009, 09:32 AM
Good pop music is when you don't have to turn down the volume lest someone catches you listening to "Can't Stop Partying"

EDIT: Then again, that song is at least catchy. Trippin' Down The Freeway has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Except maybe the "oh nine, oh ten" joke in the later choruses, but by the time the song gets to that it's too little too late.

Enix Belmont
10-26-2009, 11:06 AM
Trippin' down the freeway sounds pretty good to me, honestly. Can't stop partying I can't help but admit is embarassing, but about half the other songs are pretty good. I like run over by a truck, put me back together, I'm your daddy,Girl got hot is OK, and If you're wondering if I want you to, I want you do. Not their best album but it's not that bad. The lyrics aren't that great, but they're not trying to be deep or anything.

jacknife737
10-29-2009, 12:12 PM
Some of the songs are pretty catchy: If You Want To, Girl Got Hot, Who's Your Daddy;

but goddamn these lyrics are horrid, seriously, i never remember Weezer's being this bad before.

I saw them in Milwaukee this week and they covered Song 2 by Blur.

Then for the encore they covered Kids by MGMT, which two minutes in somehow turned into Pokerface by Lady Gaga, complete with Rivers appearing in a balcony with a blonde wig on.
