View Full Version : Mike And Whatever The Fuck He's Doing

The Mike And His Laptop and the Fireworks For Luna threads are hereby discontinued because I'd prefer an all-encompassing thread! Hurray!

Anyways, I put up the final version of a song called Cat's Cradle featuring my as-of-yet-unnamed band, as well as the punx version of it that I made by myself on the laptop. Also, I put up an acoustic version of a song that will eventually be bigger.

First time when I've listened the punx-Cradle I was like "uh, it definitely feels like a cover", after few more times I'm addicted. What you do with instruments is crazy, at least my ear is not used to cross-overing many genres in a single song. There's so much going on that I've really noticed the drilling bass line only after like 5 listens.

Love it from beginning, getting horny from 2:10, 3:03+ is just a horse fucking orgasm.

Kudos to you for showing the middle finger to polished 'correct' sound of today's muzax.

<3 thxthxthx

I'm glad you like it, Free?! The punx version started as a joke but I ended up following through with it, anyway, and it started sounding as good/better than the original, so now when I play the song with my band, we do it as the punx version.

Good stuff.

Btw, just put up the cover of Smash that appears in Mixtape #3!

Rock n roll, right, guys? Enjoy.

again, so you don't have to scroll up two (TWO? Come on, tell me it sucks, I can take it, if you don't like it, just say something!) posts to see it: www.myspace.com/theincompl

Bump because these exist.

Honeysuckle live and acoustic in my basement - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fHGwfrlthg

What Big Teeth same deal - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA5IhqGIzqA

Any thoughts on our bad jokes and stupid faces? I'm in the red sweatshirt, for the record.

I like this idea. Also, your talking before the songs reminded me a bit of NOFX and what they do live:D

Hah, nice indeed. Very comfortable, especially your pretentious face during honeysuckle. The ending of Big Teeth was great! You should open for Frank Turner's concert someday somewhere.

Our first two concerts have happened!

The first was at a free show up in Frederick, and the second was at one of my favorite venues in Baltimore. Pretty much the coolest.

Here's the only video of our first show! :)

I'm so excited.

Ah, that's fantastic! It's awesome to play a concert, but it's even more awesome to play a venue that you really like.
Also, the video was pretty good. Were you received well by the crowd?

ad8: thanks! I think people seemed to like us? People definitely reacted. One guy called us "maniacs" and another guy asked us to go play shows with his band. Feels pretty good!

So, we've been playing some shows around the area, things are getting pretty awesome. We played a show in Shepherdstown, West Virginia last week and the people there did not like us at all, which was kind of funny for me. It was a metal show, and we do not play metal.

Anyways, Me and my bandmate, Nat, recorded a couple more acoustic videos in my bedroom a few days ago and they are pretty funny.

Here they are:

Fish (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPYCOEM9i9U)
It's Happening (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIWfvM7POgo)
Raindrops Keep Eating One Another (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7snAuOIX9Z0)

I'm a big fan of the ending on Fish, especially; people really react to it when we play it live, which is great.

EDIT: Oh, and we're going to record a demo with a real producer and stuff. Like, within the next few months. We're probably going to record What Big Teeth, Raindrops, and Fish for it. I'm really excited for that.

Cool: can't wait to hear the final product of the recording.

Cool videos, and congratulations on the demo thing! I'm curious about the "studio versions":)

So we played an open mic night at my university a few nights ago, and there is some footage.

The first is of my bandmate, Nat, playing a song pretty much solo, but I took over on drums (I can not play drums). We asked them to dim the lights for the song, and they turned off all of the lights. Hilarity ensued, but it's a really great song, so whatevs.

This other video is of us playing Fish at the same show (but with more lights); we got the whole crowd (like, twelve people!) to join us on stage for it!

Looks like fun.

So I had to quit that band after some differences, and now I'm already working on a new one! I've got about 8 songs written, 6 songs almost written and I'm already starting to get some recordings finished.

Unfortunately, it looks like I can't change my myspace URL anymore, so I'm putting it up on bandcamp instead.

New band is called Shallow Lakes (http://shallowlakes.bandcamp.com), and the song is titled What Big Teeth.

Whatchu y'all think?
