It was 15 years ago today (July 30th) that The Offspring's "Come Out and Play" became a #1 hit on the Billboard chart Modern Rock Tracks in the US. Wow, it's hard to believe it's been that it's been that long since that song made them popular.

Funny thing: the first time I saw this information on this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_one_modern_rock_hits_of_1994) from Wikipedia, I was like "Come Out and Play became a #1 hit on Arnold Schwarzenegger's birthday? Wow".

That's pretty crazy.

And it's very cool, that the band, so many years later is still able to top the modern rock charts, with You're Gonna GO Far, Kid.

Yes, 1994 was definitely a great year. In 1994, two of my favorite movies, Pulp Fiction and Dumb and Dumber, were released and some of my favorite albums, including Bad Religion's Stranger Than Fiction, NOFX's Punk in Drublic and Rancid's Let's Go, were also released.

I heard COAP on the radio at work today, that was pretty damn awesome I must say. They usually just play YGGFK so that was a sweet surprise.

Its sad that there are members out there still trying to slam people in their threads like in the past. Doing this does not make you cool.

EDIT: Especially when it lacks some serious creativity.

Yup. The Offspring having a #1 hit on Arnold's birthday sounds like some (strange or weird) coincidence.

SELF ESTEEM
Self Esteem is a single of the punk band Offspring published in 1994. Has reached position # 4 in the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks.

The track appears on the album Self Esteem Smash 1994, while Jennifer Lost the War and Burn It Up, respectively, are taken from the album The Offspring 1989 Ignition 1992.

Noodles subsequently donated the guitar with which he plays (a Fender Stratocaster) to one of the video extras
The song Jennifer Lost the War is available free for download in MP3 format at 192kbps nitrorecords.com

THE SONG
Self Esteem tells of a boy who has a strong passion for his peers, which, however, often neglect and ignore; But the girl, when very drunk, did not allow their problems to his "friend." The boy then try to build on their pride (in English just self-esteem) to reject the woman, but finally realizes that there is nothing to be done and welcomes the company.

VIDEO
The video was shot in August 1994 by Darren Lavette, the same as the video of Come Out and Play and published in February 1995. Do you see different stunt, with the band performing the song on a stage. Dexter sees you wearing three different shirts: one of the early Sex Pistols, then one of The Germs, and finally one of The Vandals when it appears as the skeleton.

It is also known that for some traits Dexter is not a guitar, to some riff accompanying the song.

COVER
It was covered by Cuban Boys on the album from Eastwood.

Too bad all I can remember about that game is playing it and putting on a shirt that was on my floor, and being attacked by thousands of ants that were in the shirt. :\
