Only 4 more dates left on the tour list, and Noodles said they were pushing to release another album sometime in 2010.
Do you think this might mean they may be heading back to the recording studio?

They're probably going to take a nice, long break. I remember Noodles saying they would hit the studio early next year.

I don't think there will be another album before late 2010, maybe a b-sides compilation.

They do deserve a nice vacation to spent it with their families. I hope they do get back in the recording studio to continue on this great legacy. Cheers.

Really? They're going to Japan again this year? How did you get this info? I don't remember seeing anything around here about them going to Japan again this year.

I hope not... I prefer a solid album, than an album every year...

Were they not just there for like 2 months?

I'd expect a nice hard-earned vacation in there somewhere too, but I don't see a b-sides compilation being released, and I wouldn't want them too either.
I remember Noodles saying that the next album was going to include a lot of older unreleased material, that they've had since before Splinter.

They shouldn't have released "Mission from God". Just imagine what would happen if it was recorded on the new cd without fans being familiarised with the song. A total frenzy :)

Yeah, it might mean that they could be ready to start work on their next album. Last June, Noodles told Billboard (http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/offspring-plotting-rise-and-fall-follow-1003985997.story) that the band was expected to hit the studio in January 2010, which is currently 4 months away.

I doubt they'll head into the studio to start recording until early 2010. They'l probably spend this time relaxing, and also, writing the new material.

He said they were going to rework some old material, like break it down and build it up again; not simply stick old songs on the new recrod. They may just take a riff or something from them.

Why is Offspring ignoring Europe? A few festivals are not enough. They should do their own tour in Europe.
Also, about the new album, it's not time to speculate before next year.

The album/singles weren't as well received as they were in other places? That would be my guess, but i don't really pay attention to these things.

You're Gonna Go Far, Kid was relatively well received here I think.

Didn't they play all over Europe and not really the US last year?

Pretty much. Although, i guess most of those were festival dates.

This.

And I'm with cool to hate 681 on the 2011 thing. I'm guessing it will almost be ready to release by late 2010, but won't be out until early 2011.

they seemed to have stayed out of the press limelight on the last two albums not including greatest hits. they seemed to be everywhere when conspiracy of one was released then just faded away. the singles in particular on the last album just havent been played much although it may be just the uk!

You never know. Recording could take a very long time, but Noodles mentioned a while ago that the new album is supposed to be recorded around January, which I hope does happen.

Then that means the process won't take as long as usual seeing how they've already got something to work with?

hmm sorry but UK radios play stuff like Dezee Rascal every 5 minutes.... so I'm glad Offspring is not there with shit like this.

Oh really? I thought the band was expected to go back to the studio around January 2010, so it's impossible that we would have to wait until 2011 for it to be released.

Festivals don't really count. It's not their tour.
If Offspring feel that Europe isn't too hot for them, doing festivals would be better for them, cuz that would make more potential fans.

I can wait until 2011 for a new album, but I can't wait that long to see another one of their shows. :P

I'm gonna tell you something a guy said in the good ol' "new album" thread, when discussing about possible titles for the yet unnamed RAFRAG.

"Name it Smash II and make it fucking epic".

Now THAT'S a good idea to me :D

Releasing an album next year would be awesome for us as well as a good move by the band. RAFRAG while not a huge commercial hit, definitely served to bring our beloved band back into the public eye, a lot of people I knew didn't even know they were still together prior to that. A new album next year would definitely fare better than RAFRAG did, and would only further reinforce the idea that The Offspring are still going strong! :D
