...yet I have fun doing it. Here is a sample of a discussion I was having with some people. Due note that they have American flags as their pictures. This should let you know that they are Patriotic, gun holding American citizens. And I'm a communist swine.

Also note, I use large amounts of sarcasm.

I couldn't believe the message that syas "Defense, yes, Welfare, not so much". This is seriously fucked up !

About the constitution, what exactly does it say on taxes ? Do you guys have to pay federal taxes or do you pay them to your state that pays it to the federal state ? Because if you already pay some taxes, I don't understand why the Consitution should be a problem for the welfare system...

I didn't get into the debate more than that, but I'd be happy to know, why exactly people consider it being against the constitution...

Thank you sir.

Yes, I'm Birch. My father had a sick and twisted sense of humor.

How is this politics?

It's politics based purely on the use of the American flag.

dexternumbers... Autism in itself doesn't belong on any political agenda, unless suddenly some crazy autism-causing virus comes into this world, spreading around like... Wait a minute. So that's what's individualism is about!

I hope you know & realise there are about a trillion other health threats that the community should be worried about, aside from autism. Better yet, almost everyone I've gotten to know here struggles with a health problem, be it in their family, or because they're burdened with it. Autism matters, but then again, so do a lot of things. Medical research matters, but believe me, if one illness in the spectrum of mental diseases is being researched, it's autism.

I don't remember specifically how the guy's related to me (something on my dad's side...don't think I've ever met him), but this guy added me on myspace a few weeks back and EVERY FUCKING DAY there's literally 10-12 bulletins posted by him like "CALLING OBAMA A LIAR IS PATRIOTIC!", "Birthers win a victory in court on Obama birth certificate" and "Ronald Reagan Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine". Check out his page (http://www.myspace.com/daxoldspice), especially his list of friends.

How can THAT be related to YOU, in any way?

By the way, Vivaldi is hugely overrated, but that concerto in Master & Commander he put on there is an excellent, or well, very very decent version of one of the better concerto's he's ever written.

Total LOLage@the YouTube links he put on there & the films he likes, by the way.
& LOL@"the right perspective". it's probably old++, but that's some fantastic wordplay.

Edit again:
OH MY GOD! He's friends with Ayaan Hirsi Ali! That's so.. disturbing. I kind of hoped she'd disappeared from the face of the earth, when she left the country.

Everyone I've met from my dad's side of the family, aside from my dad, is ridiculously conservative. This guy is probably just the most obnoxious about it.

I've got this friend from high school, who I used to be really good friends with but now find annoying, who is extremely conservative... she CONSTANTLY forwards these huge anti-Obama, anti-gay, etc emails and also makes facebook statuses about the same shit. I've gotten sucked into an argument here and there (most of her friends/relatives are also way conservative), but mostly I just fight not to say anything. Here are a few excerpts:

From an email about why the health plan is so bad: "No one from the united states ever goes to Canada or England for their health care and they have a single payer option. If you get a chance to out to youtube and look at some of the stories from those countries. People who have to wait years for simples surgeries they could get here in less than a week. I definitely think we need to do something about our health care costs, but I donít want someone who lives in D.C, who is not on the same plan (and never will be and will never be on Social Security) to have a say in how my family and friendís health care is handled. They donít care about us. Listen to the Rep John Conyers from Michigan who said he hasnít read the bill b/c he would need a lawyer to do that. Since when do we let our reps get away with not reading legislation?"

http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=fb5417bd0d&view=att&th=11d4982a36fbfb7c&attid=0.1&disp=emb&zw

"An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before,
but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK,
we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D!
No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering,
blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that.
(Please pass this on)
Professor is a Genius
As the late Adrian Rogers said, "you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.."

And here's an unfortunate moment when I allowed myself to be sucked into arguing with her (and a few of her conservative friends/relatives. Fortunately we have a mutual friend who is a little more with it who helped out.)

I do find the comments from this Laura chick to be amusing, though. But yeah, the emails she sends me and the statuses she makes make me laugh... but I wasn't very funny in return :P

It's also easier to be funny/make fun of people you don't know.

See, the trick isn't directly making fun of them. You take what they say and show how ridiculous it sounds. For example, when my idiot basically said that I have never read the Constitution I said that I used if for beer coasters and tea cosies.

Calling people names is easy, to wax-poetic with a comment and truth is 1337.

From the conversation in this post (http://www.offspring.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1356759&postcount=27):

have we been attacked since 9/11....NO

I always feel the need to ask these people why they don't count 9/11? It's a very popular comment (and has been for several years now) to say that Bush made our country safer because we didn't have any attacks past 9/11, and that was on Bush's watch. And yet, 9/11 happened on Bush's watch.

I mean, am I missing something here?
