I've got an old Kerrang magazine lurking somewhere with an article about his plane, plus other band sorta stuff. If I can be arsed I'll dig it out tomorrow, scan and upload it.

Edit: may already be in the magazine article thread (http://offspring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19448).

It is not a fighter jet. It is an L-39 Albatros a high-performance jet trainer aircraft developed in Czechoslovakia and used as a trainer by the former USSR which races at the Reno Air Races. He also has a Cessna Citation CJ he flies himself.

Took this today at the Reno Air Races. Will try and get a pic of his L39 Tomorrow.

I read another thread on these forums, some really need to do their research before saying somethings i hope not to offend anyone by that. THIS is his L39, it was the pace plane for the jet class air race this year at reno.

without giving out to much detailed information on this plane, i will let you know that it is possible to find out what i know. i just wish to honor ones privacy.
1. im sure it is his, or at least part. it is registered to a "small inc company dedicated to this jet" that is in "the general vicinity of van nuys airport" and has other significance to this address.
2. because it is registered in this fashion im think he want to keep a low key with what he is doing with it. im sure it would be a media frenzy if he was promoting it. after all you cannot track his Citation so easy these days.
3. i have seen him working closely with this L39 crew.
4. there is more information out there you just need to know how to find it.
4. why else would it be called the gringo bandito?

Okay, I have now done my homework and I believe you ... the L-39 #20 "Gringo Bandito" is Dexter's plane.

I did have my doubts at first because Flying Squirrel posted that picture and completed the details, but after further research, it did turn out to be true.

Why is Dexter not flying L39?

During my research, I found the following:

Pilots are assumed to be an active, current pilot with no serious flying-skill deficiencies.
FAA Private Pilot Land Rating.
Instrument Rating (required for the Experimental Aircraft Authorization checkride and rating.)
1,000 hours total flight time.
500 hours Pilot-In-Command time.
Current FAA Medical (3rd Class minimum).

So, I suppose that he isn't completely qualified to fly the L-39 yet.

Bejka

But he can fly Cessna, so he must be fit for flying :) Aaa, whatever.....

There was an article that somebody posted about his ride with Dexter in the L39. He's got the qualifications.

Flying Squirrel
12-02-2009, 02:57 AM
he is qualified. he is type rated for a L-39 and has his ATP multi turbine and is a CFII. why he isnt flying im not sure but i tend to think it might have to do with qualifying for being the pace plane pilot? although im sure if he tried it wouldnt be that hard. maybe whats to keep a low profile at the races.

He flies it, just not 'races' it I guess. Makes sense, I can drive a car too, but that doesn't mean i'd be a brilliant race driver.

Why 2007, when the results I posted above are from 2006 ... I don't think the plane was owned by someone else, with the same pilot and the same nickname.
