I'm hungover right now, but I'm too proud to admit it to anyone. Not that I got drunk, but that I still get occasional hangovers.

That really is something to be proud of.

You feel ashamed about having occasional hangovers?

Not ashamed exactly. I kind of got avoiding hangovers down pat, and I rarely get them. So to me getting sick from drinking is like stalling out a car or busting a nut too quickly. It's a rookie mistake. Kind of stupid I know but still...

How does one avoid hangovers? I had a pretty bad one yesterday despite hardly being drunk the night before and drinking lots of water as well.

Personally it's nothing complicated for me. You don't make the mistake of drinking progressively till you pass out. You drink to a point, maintain your point, and ease out of it. Eat a substantial meal, and yes, drink a lot of water. When it's all said and done I probably stopped drinking around 12:30-1AM, but didn't got to sleep till 3-4. If you feel a headache coming on, take an aspirin. I mean it's nothing we don't know, which is why I feel stupid being hungover.

Last night I didn't follow any of this. I stopped drinking at about 5AM, got a ride home and passed out by 6. I have no idea if/what I ate, and judging by the foul, dry, cigarette taste in my mouth and the extremely sore throat when I attempted to speak in the morning, I had little to no hydration.

Al, is it the worst hangover ever? Don't worry, you'll never drink again. At least not until next weekend.

Why do people drink if they know they are just going to have a hangover the next day?!

Why do people drink if they know they are just going to have a hangover the next day?!

They try to drink just enough to avoid a hangover. Usually it doesn't work.

Because drinking is an awesome way to spend your time.

No, not at all. If I drink, I pretty much know that I'll have a terrible hangover the next day (just like now), but I don't give a shit. Good times.

I get Al's sentiment in this thread. I usually don't have a problem with hangovers and have gotten rather adept at ignoring them, but whiskey coupled with chain-smoking can lead to a shit-feeling the following day. Water in the morning helps. Chewing gum works decently well at removing foul tastes.

But I really just liked the car stalling out analogy and wanted to bring attention to it. Yes. Exactly like that.

Hahahah.

I dunno, I don't think there's any surefire way to avoid a hangover. I've tried to take precattions like the one you mentioning, but it doesn't neccesarily or usually work so....fuck it. I just try and drunk water though
