So there's somebody I'd like to look up for arrests/criminal record/warrants. Now my understanding is that unless this information is sealed/expunged, it's public info. Googling it only produces a million sites that offer to do so with no guarantee of sucess for $20-30. I'm imagining this is probably free somewhere.

You can definitely look this stuff up in the US for free. My mom used to do it all the time in WI when she was a landlord. Here's the Wisconsin site http://wcca.wicourts.gov/index.xsl

I don't know what state you live in, but I'm sure it has something similar.

Try a search for "[your county] public records".

When I do that the first site that comes up is pretty useful. This is what I get http://www.shawneecourt.org/doe/index.html, for example.

yep, and I'm glad for it. It helped me a lot a couple years ago when I had the nutcase landlord and I had to get out of my lease. I found his court records, and found that he had legally changed his name... when I searched his old name, I found that he had a pretty nasty history. We weren't the first people he tried to evict, that's for sure. It helped us a lot in court.

You have nothing to worry about if you don't get into trouble. My record shows that I've been taken to court once, and I won.

1. go to liberty city
2. search a police car
3. enter the police car
4. press "e"
5. search the database

It's easy for Wisconsin. I can't seem to find any for any other state...that are real anyway. I don't really like using them for anyone other than myself anyway. I find it annoying that my information is listed on a public website.
