I just got through the last chapter of A People's History of America last week. Makes me sad too.

This seriously upsets me. Not only did I adore his work, but I got the chance to actually sit down and have a short conversation with him at a post-event dinner I co-organized when he gave a reading at my college a few years ago. He was just as awesome a conversationalist as he was a historian :(

I keep meaning to get around to starting that. It's on my shelf. The People Speak was awesome.

I am the coolest motherfucker when meeting celebrities. I just treat them like regular people in every way. But that's because I've never met an academic celebrity. I'd be hornier than a 12-year-old at a Jonas Brothers concert if I met someone like that.

I typically find meeting celebrities to be an extremely uncomfortable experience. Academic celebrities are funny though.

Funny enough, a few days ago I was just thinking about how I've never read A People's history. I may add it to my summer reading list.
