Does heavy rotation work on you? Do you have the impression that, after you hear a song more often, you tend to like it more?

I think so.

I usually find to get into an album, I need to put it on in the background a good few times.

Depends on the band or album.

Some stuff that I listen to takes a while to "grow" on me: Like, I didn't immediately fall in love with Joy Division the first time i listened to them, but after a few spins of their records i think they're great. Same goes for Against Me!, but now they're one of my favorite bands.

While band's like Off With Their Heads, clicked immediately: about halfway through the first song on their From the Bottom album i knew that i would love everything by them.

As I saw the video "Sabotage" by Beasty Boys for the first time, I couldn't stand it. The more often I've seen it, the more I liked it. Now I love it.
Also I do like "Last Christmas". I heard that many hate that song, because they play it way too often during christmas. I haven't heard that song very often during christmas, and as I did, I enjoyed it.

Listening to something too much is awful..

Seriously, back in the school days I'd get dropped in and out from school with my friend, and she made her mom play Where is the Love, EVERYDAY, ON REPEAT....it was a half hour journey to school and another half hour back... that's 5 hours of Where is the Love every week for that whole fucking year!

Literally for a year? Do you hate that song by now? I mean it's a decent song, but under that circumstances...

Well for the school year...so like 9 months.
I hated it for quite some time afterwards, but with time, my mind has healed.:p

LAST CHRISTMAS? God that song is annoying as hell. You listen to it the first time: meh. You listen to it the 10th time: Well that's not so bad, it's kinda catchy. You listen to it the 100th time: Oh holy shit, someone turn it off, I can't stand that song!

Hehe, now I realized this rule goes for many overplayed songs.

:D I think I know, but I definitely thought of the second one one when I read your post! I think the second one would be far more annoying, despite my being a fan of them... haha

I orgot to mention that she'd flcik through the music channels to find it, so we'd also have to listen to it on the tv a few times a week.:p
