They played it wrong.

i'd have liked to hear the thing live to appreciate it more, sounds awkward from the recording

First of all, that's not an orchestra... that's a marching band. Not even close to the same thing :P

Second of all, that band is awful... they are soooo incredibly out of tune, and they have no sense of rhythm - they're all over the place. Plus the trumpets are especially awful.

And as Jojan sort of pointed out, this is a pretty bad arrangement of the song.

Where is this from?

That was so bad that it's actually good. Fucking done professionally.

How can it possibly be played wrong when it's their own interpretation of the song? Admittedly, the horns do sound kind of like a load of kazoos/gazoos (whichever way you choose to spell it) and they could have been more in tune, but credit is due. I can't imagine is particularly easy to play.

I think he means our drunken acoustic rendition of TKAA.

Ah it's a very easy song to play in a band setting. We learned it once, and it took us all of like 3 hours to learn... and it sounded heaps better than that.

Also, when a marching band plays a song, it's not an "interpretation"... someone sits down and tries to transcribe a song that was written for guitars and drumsets, for trumpets, trombones, clarinets, saxophones, flutes, and 20-member drumlines. There is no interpretation - they try to make it as accurate as possible. There are good transcribers, and horrible transcribers. Whoever transcribed this was one of the horrible ones.

Not perfect, and not by an orchestra, but nice still!

Basically what Llamas said. My God that is drastic. The timing especially is absolutely awful.
