I don't know about you lot, but the Offspring should try of there songs with an orchestra. Australian band Birds Of Tokyo did it last year and it was absolutley amazing. Something different

Not entirely what I mean. Have Dexter singing, Noodles on an acoustic guitar, Pete on drums and Greg on base. Something similar to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yuw-9Dwldkk - This is Birds Of Tokyo

I would love to see that. Seriously. Just one show with a full orchestra... hell yes.

Won't happen. Offspring's music is very simplistic and any orchestra would get bored in 5 seconds of playing power chord 8th notes. I like the Offspring a lot, but there's no way a professional orchestra would ever consider that.

I'm also amused that someone posted a video of a marching band playing an Offspring song... that's not even close to the same thing.

I generally agree but I can name some Offspring songs that can be cool with an orchestra.Pay the Man, Me & My Old Lady, I Choose, A Lot Like Me would fit. But there can't be a satisfying enjoyable concert.

Definitely something different. ;)

The London Symphony Orchestra e.g. has recorded some rock songs and they actually do sound great. So why not give it a try?

They should do something unique instead.

I agree that not all Offspring songs would fit well with an orchestra, but I can point out some songs that would be great.

Just take the String Quartet Offspring album as an example. TKAA, Gone Away, Hit That could really have a cool orchestra playing with the band. Imagine the choruses being played, Dex's voice along with the strings. Oh damn that would be cool.

The Offspring have a lot of songs I'm sure they could pull it off. It would be very good to see

See but you're confusing "what would sound good" with "what an orchestra would actually enjoy playing". Pay the Man is the only song that might be interesting for an orchestra, so they wouldn't be likely to agree to it.

The string quartet is a group of guys who weren't good enough to get into an orchestra, so they cover pop and rock groups for an easy buck. It would sound cool, yes. I'm totally not arguing that. But this kind of music is "beneath" the talents of a professional orchestra. Bands like Metallica can pull it off because their music is more complex and they can arrange interesting and complicated parts for an orchestra. Offspring songs are very basic musically and an orchestra would get extremely bored playing punk music.

Well they could do an acoustic interpretation with piano and string quartet. Be a seated affair in theatres. That I would like to see

How I'd love to hear an acoustic album also i would have the chance to see them work with an orchestra! At least for once!
Good idea

Disagree. I don't think The Offspring is the kind of band who would do a collaboration with a string ensemble.

Would, should or could? ;)

I don't know if they would if they had the chance or if they even ever thought about doing a thing like that. Still it's an insteresting idea at least as far as I'm concerned. ;)

They shouldn't... and they probably couldn't because an orchestra wouldn't agree to do it. And finally, they probably wouldn't just because the Offspring doesn't seem to me like such a big, theatrical type of group. I don't see Dexter as the kind of front man who would be comfortable having an entire orchestra behind him :P

Let's try it, just because we can"-kind of band. You know, just for giggles.
The only reason why I don't see it happening is because what you said, they don't seem to be a theatrical group. Though I don't think the simplicity will matter too much. And instead of an orchestra it could be a Big Band kind of think, which holds the middle between a band and an orchestra. It works with 'simple (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb4ytLydMBk)' songs as well.

I see hosts of offspring fans wearing suits and dresses going to theatre.

Am I the only person who has trouble imagining this?
