According to this http://www.joshfreese.com/ throughout the year Josh was in the studio working with the Offspring....I'm confused, what about Pete?

Yeah, I thought Pete was going to record the new album too. Now that I've heard this, it appears that he's only a member for the tour.

You are right!I've actually seen 2-3 times friends of mine discussing about it on the net lately & i'm pretty sure one was on twitter so probably that one was you ha!I just didn't find any thread about it & i made one so if someone had more info would let me/us know:)

What Josh wrote does not exclude the presens of Pete. He might just be there to give opinions, since he have been with the band for the last two records.

Yeah, that's true & makes sense!Maybe it also explains why Pete was shown recording drums on the studio cam last year like cool 2 hate 681 said. Thanks guys!:) Let's see...

Maybe, for some reason they are both on the album this time around, affording Pete more free time to participate in his other projects ... Here (http://www.offspring.com/community/showthread.php?t=43030)

Would it be a problem if Josh Freese was recording on the album?

Would it be a problem if Josh Freese was recording on the album?

it would be strange if he records the album and than pete would still be in the band... since he's drumming with the offspring why wouldn't he record? it's just strange, if you have a drummer you don't call another drummer... it could be guest in a track or anything else. just the recording of the whole record would be odd...at least for the way I think it

No,of course not!I just had the question that every Offspring fan would have after learning about it:

I'm confused,what about Pete?
For me there's nothing wrong with Josh as there's nothing wrong with Pete. They're both great guys/drummers though to be honest i'd like to try an Offspring album with Pete. It'd be also cool if Josh helped on the new album but i'd like to know if Pete is actually the official drummer of the Offspring. Again, nothing personal with Josh!=)

probably a bit of fear that Josh recording means they lost Pete and have to find Another drummer. but since we've seen him on studio cam I'm not too worried about that haha.

its probably both pete and josh because pete was on the studio cam. its probably cause pete is working on other projects as well

For some people, maybe. Everybody was thinking that Pete was working with them on studio after we saw those shots of him on studio, and lots of people were looking forward to hearing him with them on studio.

On the other hand, Josh Freese is fucking talented and he's my favourite drummer ever, I'm seeing him next week with Paramore and I'm really looking forward to it! If I'm lucky enough to get to talk to him, I will ask him about The Offspring's upcoming record, I'm guessing that'll be very unlikely, though.

noodles also said in a interview that pete would be recording drums on the new album then again they said the album would come out last year and that they would update the website every monday

Maybe Pass Me By is a stretch, but this could be that he was with them when they recorded some songs or partially recorded songs that he contributed (or wrote) the drum part to? Maybe not Pass Me By, but Dirty Magic rerecording, etc.? And he was doing those songs because he helped write the drum parts. Just a thought.

I'm pretty used to Freese by now. As far as punkrock drumming goes, you can't really top him. If he's going to drum for three albums straight, they may as well make him a full member.

Yeah right. With Freese's schedule, I'm surprised he has time for anything. He's a machine.

But that's the thing....Josh Freese is a session drummer. He appears to only rarely joins bands. I don't think appearing on multiple albums is enough to make you a full member of a band by default. If you show up and play what someone else wrote and are compensated for your time and efforts, that's session work -- not being in the band. I'd like to hear Pete on a record too, but my experience with this band has told me that they never ever do anything without thinking about it and having a really good reason for it.

i would love it if he played a few live shows with the offspring like he did with weezer in 2009 and like he is doing with paramore now

Oh, I was under the impression that he DID write the drum parts. I remember reading in a Splinter interview where Dexter or Noodles said he made the drums "sound like Offspring drums," so I just assumed they put him in the studio and left him to it.

But yeah, I didn't even consider his schedule.

Now this is interesting... I'm looking forward to hear two different drummers on the album actually. :D Whether it's 50-50 or just one song from Josh, only time will tell I guess.

Wait, what?! I totally didn't see this being true. Haha. This is so very interesting. I'm not 100% in favor of this, but I'm not that against it either. It's something new for the band. I just hope Pete is featured in the majority of the songs. It will be fun trying to determine whether each track is a "Josh song" or a "Pete song".

EDIT: you da man, mike.

Wow first Weezer's Raditude, then Social D's Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes and the new Offspring album? Wow Josh has been playing on albums while the band's own drummer is still playing on them lately.
