Dexter Holland, founder of Gringo Bandito Hot Sauce and the front man for multi-platinum punk band The Offspring, is thrilled to have Kobayashi involved in the inaugural event, saying "I thought Kobayashi was cool even before he got arrested."

Dexter Holland reveals the bigger picture of the Gringo Bandito Taco Challenge: "Kobayashi and I share the same dream of building a better world by eating lots of tacos."

hahahahaha

Who the fuck's Dexter Holland?

What the fuck's Gingo Bandito?

But seriously, I love this! Especially that Kobayashi's involved. Isn't someone from the band on record as being a big fan of his? Or the other way around? I'm sure it's a big honor for both parties.

I want to be in that contest, mostly because I'm starving right now and tacos sound great right now.

lol...now he is into taco eating contests to support his taco sauce empire. Yeah, the new record is a REAL priority. Like I said before, don't expect a new Offspring album in 2011.

I would not stand that awful feeling that after every such a contest I have circa 60 awful sausages in my belly, but tacos, well, tacos are so beautiful. And of course I'm always Kobayashi when I'm going to IKEA, but it's exception. And of course, they should sit on their asses and write fucking music, I'm also indignant, I understand you dude.

Well, I don't think they stay there for long so ... :p

Honestly, I've always found these "swallowing" contests pretty disgusting (but that's just me). ;)

Dude, stop being so negative. There's more people than just him helping out with this contest.Heh, I imagine it went something like this:

Dexter: "Hm, wouldn't it be rad to have a Taco eating challenge?"
*calls Gringo Bandito*
Dexter: "Guys, settle a Taco eating contest for me."
Gringo Guy: "Will do!"
Dexter "kthnx."

1) Takeru Kobayashi 81 tacos
2) “Furious” Pete Czerwinski 49
3) Brad Sciullo 45
4) Johnnie Excel 41

The second head is over. Kobayashi appears to have won easily with an unofficial count of 81 tacos.

The Gringo Bandito Taco Challenge was the first United States contest against other competitive eaters for Takeru Kobayashi since the Krystal Square Off 6 finals in September 2009

Ok so I thought about it, if I take a normal meal (not pushing myself) and had tacos for lunch and dinner, I generally can eat two or three so lets say for arguments sake 3 per meal it would take me into 14 days to eat that many tacos (27 meals). He did 81 in 10 min. Ridiculous. and I'm with you, I'll never understand how that dude is so tiny. I eat too many tacos and I had better hit the gym if I want to keep my stomach relatively flat for the next week.

On August 5, 2006, Kobayashi set yet another world record at the Johnsonville World Bratwurst Eating Championship in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, by downing 58 bratwurst sausages in 10 minutes, shattering the previous record of 35 set the previous year by Sonya Thomas.[9]
-wikipedia.

If he was able to eat 58 awful sausages in 10 minutes, 81 score for tacos isn't surprising at all.

We don't mean the taco challenge videos, there was a video by Furious Pete directly from Dexter's house, some kind of afterparty or something. And I think it's very inappropriate to shoot tour vid in someone's house while that someone doesnt know about it and maybe he's not even there.

Yeah, I know. Never mind, though. I remember the kitchen now. I think there was another scene between the kitchen and after the competition, where he was talking to that weird looking blonde guy. Not that it matters. :o

Mona Lisa smile? Anyway, bratwurst and awful seem like synonyms to me. Especially in such circumstances of, eh, mass eating.

According to Pete, Dex's house started with that pretty nice fountain. Blonde guy was after that. In that pretty nice kitchen, indeed. Mine has got very similar coloring, I will remember that feeling low anytime, ha. Neat glaze in bathroom was also nice, btw.^^

This doesn't really go in this thread, but I've been meaning to mention that Gringo Bandito is the newest sponsor of "This Week with Larry Miller (http://www.adamcarolla.com/LMBlog/)," a podcast I really like. Apparently, he loves the stuff.

EDIT: On the picture for the July 6 episode, he's holding a big empty box of GB.
