Which riff do you like most for this song? The old or the new one? I go for the old one...

I like the beginning of the new one and the end of the old one. So, let's mix them together. :)

New. Sounds more Offspringish...as if they were using guitar picks with offspring-ish artwork on'em.

I actually like the new riff a lot more, and it's an added bonus that people will shut up about them copying the Foo Fighters.

Old. But it doesn't matter. Soon, I will have forgotten all about it.

New one. It just sounds more "Offspring" to me.

I'm not sure it will shut them up about it. But it does sound less like FF.

I just think the song is boring, regardless of which intro riff it has or how many times Foo Fighters have released it as a single in the past decade.

I like the newer version: though i must say i'm a lot more interested in the vocals: can't wait to hear a studio version, or at least find out what the official lyrics are.

The new riff, hands down. It sounds more like traditional Offspring than the other one.

I agree with the people who say the new riff has a more "Offspring" sound. I think the improvement really speaks to Dexter's talent as a songwriter who is still in touch with his band's unique musical flavor while exploring new sounds.

I hope this song is never released as a single. It will just piss people off with it's Foo Fightersness.

I like the old riff more and don't really care if they "ripped off" the FF. However, with newer recordings of this song, I like it less and less and I hope it's not released as a single. The new recordings are clearer and showcase the fact that Dexter's voice is so not suited for this song. He's still singing in his yell-voice, and it really clashes with the feel of the music. His yell-singing works great with the more heavy "punk" stuff, but it's just so out of place here, and his weaknesses are so exposed. I just love his voice in the right context, and he often makes good decisions regarding that (in the last two albums - Head Around You, A Lot Like Me... he adapts his voice for the style of the music). Maybe a studio version will work out the kinks, but I'm just not really liking it...

This is exactly what was in the back of my mind listening to live versions of this song. Maybe they could tune it down or something so his voice fits it better.

I can't wait for the studio version, especially for the lyrics and vocals after the riffs. It's kind of beautifully sad, it reminds me of Gone Away a tiny bit.

It would maybe piss me off if it was a bad song, but it's just not.

That's how you get successful for masses. You gotta take some influences. They are taking influences from current very popular bands though. They were doing it in the 90s too, but people probably weren't aware where it was coming from. They listen to what people wanna hear, and this way you gotta don't like some songs on an album. On the last one I wasn't much into Green Day and Bad Religion influnces, but there are a lot of fans that listen to those bands. I liked Linkin Park and The Letters Organize influences. Maybe people listen to more music these days and they know. You gotta be careful with it. Maybe, if the song Rise and Fall sounded a bit less Green day I'd like it more. So, I think it's good that they changed the riffs when people think it's too much. We have to wait for the studio version.

Not wanting to release the song because someone is gonna hate it is strange. You shouldn't base it if you like it or not on some people hating it.
