*It has to be a noun or verb...or uh, any significant word for lack of a more technical english term.

Off the top of my head:

"Fall" (verb) (4) - Have You Ever, I Choose, The Noose, Beheaded

Just off the top of my head, but I think "rain" is used a lot.

Half-Truism, A Lot Like Me, Fix You, Genocide, Kristy

Edit: And Living In Chaos Demo

Has to be a content word, not a linking word ;)

I'm thinking "head" has to be way up there, for sure.

Maybe I have gotten an incomplete list of their lyrics. But this what I found to be the words that they used more than 30 times. Of course I did not bother to spilt words like "I'm" into "I" and "am".

656 i
632 the
706 you
385 a
368 and
334 to
316 it
215 in
200 me
199 all
188 my
184 on
176 your
176 but
161 that
158 don‘t
149 i‘m
148 know
139 of
135 is
132 way
132 just
129 now
124 so
124 like
118 for
114 no
106 it‘s
106 be
102 if
94 with
91 up
90 when
89 out
88 away
85 this
85 say
82 want
77 gonna
76 not
74 get
73 see
73 are
72 never
71 what
71 she
71 one
70 we
64 really
64 i‘ll
63 go
62 you‘re
61 well
60 time
60 more
59 cause
58 have
57 that‘s
57 make
57 her
57 can‘t
56 our
56 life
56 he
54 got
53 down
52 come
52 can
51 at
50 world
49 was
49 could
48 will
48 feel
48 again
47 day
46 as
45 they
44 man
44 do
43 nothing
43 by
41 take
40 why
40 who
39 there‘s
39 then
39 right
39 inside
38 won‘t
38 yeah
38 hate
37 little
37 back
37 around
35 only
35 he‘s
34 you‘ll
34 think
34 still
34 i‘ve
34 his
34 head
32 too
32 things
32 own
32 eyes
31 find
31 before
30 she‘s
30 how
30 had
30 alone

So "head" is used 34 times, and "alone" 30.

How exactly did you do this and where did you find the lyrics from?

I meant to include in my original post that repeating lyrics don't count.

"Inside" is used 39 times and "World" is used 50. Hmmm "World" is really used a lot. Dexter likes to makes profound statements about humanity and introspective lyrics.

How exactly did you do this and where did you find the lyrics from?

I downloaded them from offspring.com and I used shell tools to get the result.

I made a script just now, it is not the same as I used to get that list. It gives another result.

#!/bin/sh

# You need to install fdupes. Perhaps ugly way to write it, but whatever.
fdupes / || (echo "You must install fdupes." && exit 1)

# Your aliases should not fuck this up
unalias -a

# Make a temporary directory and go there
TMPDIR=$(mktemp -d)
cd "$TMPDIR"

echo "Will work in $TMPDIR."

echo "Will start downloading a lot of files."

# Since I do not know what logic is behind the naming of these files, I
# donwnload most of them. Hopefully this is all lyrics. Some are just empty.
for i in $(seq -w 00 99) $(seq -w 000 444); do
wget -cq "http://offspring.com/music/lyrics/$i"
# Just some progress indicator.
echo -n "."
done &

# Some paralelism
for i in $(seq -w 444 999 | tac); do
wget -cq "http://offspring.com/music/lyrics/$i"
# Just some progress indicator.
echo -n "."
done

echo " Done!"
echo "Removing duplicates."

# Removes all duplicate files.
while rm $(fdupes . | head -n 1); do true; done

# Concaternate all files and remove HTML tags, punctuations and makes lower-case
# letters into upper-case and makes space into new-line. And then sort them.
cat * | grep -v "<link" | grep -v "<div" | grep -v "</div" | sed "s/<br>//g" \
| grep -v \< | tr -cd [[:space:][:alpha:]] | tr [:upper:] [:lower:] \
| tr \ \\n | tr -d "\t" | grep -v ^$ | sort > SORTED

# Now, for every unique line in SORTED, grep and count instances of the word,
# and count them.
uniq SORTED | while read line; do
echo "$(grep -c $line SORTED) $line";
done | sort -g > WORD_COUNT

echo "Done. You will find the words in $TMPDIR/WORD_COUNT."

exit 0

So that one gets rid of duplicate words I see. Where are the results though?
