What's your impression of Philadelphia? Have you ever been there?

I live about 15 minutes away and I go there a lot. I was just curious.

Now this is a story all about how
My life got flipped turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air

In West Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground is where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin' some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys who were up to no good
Started makin' trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
And said you're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air

As strange as it sounds, the two posts above are exactly what I think of when I think of Philadelphia.

I go to Philadelphia about once or twice a month and I absolutely love it.

This is everything I'll ever need related to Philadelphia.

The movie's pretty awesome too.

I would really like to spend some time in Philly at some point, but I think the general opinion of people who have no clue isn't good. I think of their horrible airport, throwing batteries at Santa Claus at a football game, and this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTY-JmKsR4Y).

Never been, but I always think of dog killers and kitten mittens. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rReEkxdUC2U)

My impression- not having spent much time there at all- is that I detest the TV show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," hate the Phillies and their fans, but I think some really interesting and original music comes out of the area.

I've never met anyone who strongly dislikes the show. Interesting. Everyone I've met either likes/loves it, or just finds it pretty "meh". Why do you detest it??

Probably because the characters are stupid easy to loathe.

I don't despise the show, but I do hate certain episodes in which my hatred of the characters far outweighs any comedic value there might be.

But you're supposed to hate the characters. That's the whole point. They're supposed to be pretty much the worst images of themselves they can possibly be. The working title for the show was originally "Jerks".

I'm surprised when people point that out as if I don't get it.

My point is that this hatred of the characters outweighs any appreciation of any humor.

I sort of agree with T's reason, but to put it even more simply, I just don't think I can ever enjoy anything that Charlie Day touches or goes near. I just want to punch him in the throat every time he opens his mouth.
