'Only'? It's at the 3rd place. There's like 40 albums there. That's a really good score I'd say!

Yes, ONLY. This is The Offspring that we're talking about. they should start the race at the top, stay at the top, and END AT THE TOP.

Ignition is now in 4th place. Alice in Chains' Dirt, Iron Maiden's Fear of the Dark and Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power are up against.

I just voted for the Offspring. Come on everybody, tell all your friends to vote for the Offspring!
That's just something I was about to say. We need more people to vote for The Offspring so they can make it to the top 10.

They're winning so hard right now.

Considering this is a "guitar world" contest, Ignition is pretty much the least deserving album on the list.
Silly list of choices, but Iron Maiden got my vote.

Whoa! I didn't expect Ignition to beat Dirt and Vulgar Display of Power.

It's only winning because Noodles put it on Twitter/Facebook.

For real. I love Ignition, but it doesn't belong on this list whatsoever. Funny how people here assume that just because you post on this bbs, you must of course vote for the Offspring in anything no matter what.

This might sound weird, but when I think about Ignition's sound, I think about how high up in the mix the *bass* is.

And when they posted it on Facebook, they said "If you would like to vote for us, you can do that here. Or you can vote for Kiss or Def Leppard." I thought that was funny when I first saw that (the part when they mentioned Kiss and Def Leppard). Of course I voted for The Offspring.

Exactly. I love Ignition, I love The Offspring. They aren't exactly a "guitar world" band though. Even if this was just "which album is best" there are better albums on that poll. It's not like it's Offspring's greatest effort even.

even more than generator by bad religion?
I don't really listen to Bad Religion to judge, but I know they'd be about the same verdict.

Very true.

Yeah, but he's also the guitar player for The Offspring I'd say pretty much 99% of the people who voted on this poll who seen it on his facebook/twitter, voted for The Offspring. Which is fine, I'm just saying that's why they're so high, not because they're immensely popular and not because Ignition is the holy grail of guitar music.

Ahm.....btw. We only need one person with a lot of sparetime to win that contest. Cause you can vote again and again and again. Voted 3 times in a row.
1. 30,55%
2. 30,58%
3. 30,59%

So, go on.
VOTE!

Edit: Now, it's at 31.01%. Don't know why. :P

Lol... it's a great album, but it's not a great guitar album. I'm voting for Yngwie Malmsteen :).

mrconeman

^ a much more viable choice. Even though I'm not a huge Yngwie fan.

Well I voted for Ignition (30.22%) but I won't pretend my decision wasn't influenced by my lacking knowledge on other albums from that list. But anyway, fuck it, I want the Offspring to win something finally. ;p

I gotta be fair, here. I'm honestly surprised the Offspring was even mentioned in this. Ignition is nowhere near the best album on that list, guitar-wise. I've heard admittedly few of those albums. But of the ones I've heard, these albums all have superior guitar music:

White Zombie's "La Sexorcista"
Stone Temple Pilot's "Core"
Alice in Chains' "Dirt" (I personally think Jerry Cantrell is the most underrated guitarist ever)
Rage Against the Machine's "Rage Against the Machine"
Pantera's "Vulgar Display of Power"

And going on reputation alone, I'm sure these albums were also better:

Buckethead's "Bucketheadland"
Megadeth's "Countdown to Extinction"
Iron Maiden's "Fear of the Dark"
Yngwie Malmsteen's "Fire and Ice"
Dream Theater's "Images and Words"
Frank Zappa's "Playground Psychotics"

I think the Offspring gets the leg-up on most or all of the punk-oriented/alternative albums on that list. There were some great riffs in Ignition.

Yup, I voted for Pantera.

Ignition is still way ahead. It's now got 31 votes, while Alice In Chains' Dirt got 24. Keep voting, y'all!

Obviously Ignition isn't the best guitar album on the list. I wouldn't even have to look at the rest of the entries to know that. But whenever these silly contests come around, I'm always of the opinion that if you never would have seen this poll without it being posted here, you should either not vote, or at least be a little more inclined to vote for them. But I would definitely vote for Pantera, all things being equal.

EDIT: After reading the little blurb above the poll, Ignition belongs on the list for sure. First place? I can't say...

I guess they kept voting for that album after they saw this thread (http://www.thebrpage.net/forum/get_last_post.asp?TID=6999) at The Bad Religion Page.

I cannot be sure that Ignition is the best guitar album, since I have not heard all of the albums of 1992. Hence, I am not obligated to vote. :-\ Sorry.

Lol, you really went for a serious reply. Calm down. :) You really wish I was a fanboy of the other bands, but hell no I'm not going back in 1992. Any significant music will find a way to me.
