Hey guys.

So this is something outside my usual thing. I've made an old school sounding G-Funk/Rap/Dr.Dre beat, or at least I tried to. I'm probably too white to even be at it. I'm basically looking for someone to rap over this to really finish it off. Definitely too white to be at that.

I know it's *highly* unlikely to find any rappers on the bbs....but what the hell, check it out anyway and let me know what you think of it.

p.s. if you're planning on listening to the BBS mixtape and hope to be surprised by my submissions, don't listen to the next tracks.

Or go for the youtube route.

God damn it, I had my cursor over the "reply" button. And then I saw your post. Fuck you for stealing my post. Asshole.

But for real. Ricky and Randy are obviously the best rappers we know. Offer them some fried chicken and grape drink and I'm sure they'll do it.

The drum beat is a little too boring, even for a simple beat. Needs maybe a hi-hat release or an extra bass drum note in there somewhere. Or maybe it could just have a different effect to make it "bigger" sounding.

Yeah, you're absolutely right about the drums. Drums and percussion are my absolute weak point when making music. I actually play everything else, on a guitar, or keyboard or bass or whatever, but drums I have to use a midi controller and programme it in, I'd probably do better with a real kit.

I'm just not very good at it, I'll get there though, valid criticism.

I'm actually in the process of recording a rap album. I think I'm pretty good when it comes to rap.

A few examples:
Merry Fucking Christmas, Bitch (http://www.servercrashers.com/music/Merry%20Fucking%20Christmas,%20Bitch%20%5b192%5d.m p3)
The Ballad of Peter Corkery (http://www.servercrashers.com/music/Tales%20From%20The%20Geekside%20Theme%20Song.mp3)

So, yes, I can do this.

Fucking yes!

I thoroughly enjoyed Merry Fucking Christmas Bitch. I dunno if I told you that.
Can't wait to hear them guys!

edit: That was such a white reply.

SPIT FUCKING FIRE YO!
p.p.s man, if you do finish that shit up, feel free to put it in your rap album release, if you want to.

So, I haven't really had the chance to focus on this due to me being busy with other things, but I do plan on doing something with this in the future.

Are you sure you didn't want to post this in the BBS mixtape thread? ;)

Hey, do you mind sending me a version of the file? I have an idea and some time to dedicate over the next week, though I won't promise a rap in the sense that you've expected.

Your words. They make me excited.

No problem, man. I'm in work at the minute, so I don't have the file, but I'll arrange something when I get home. Though, you can download it from soundcloud, I think, if you want to do that.

Yo coneman, i like the beat. it definitely has that that old school vibe. My advice is speed it up a beat. not much. Then add a little reverb to the bells and then do that bighead said. Try to make the percussion more interesting because it was boring me to death(no offense bruh). and the synth....did you use sytrus from fl studio? I would suggest changing it.

Other than that, this track has great potential

Thanks man, good critique. :)
I don't use FL, I'm using Cubase at the minute, so that wasn't the synth I used, I used a synth called "Super Spook Keys" which I guess is meant to sound like a theremin or other such spooky old school horror movie noise, but I programmed it two different ways, and double tracked it to make that one sound, which is, I'm told, the common way to get that "G-funk whistle" as it's called.

And yeah, I agree totally, the percussion is far too samey throughout the track, the drums have always been my weak point in my recordings, I don't take naturally to making interesting beats, and it's the only instrument on all my recordings that I don't actually play, but use the keyboard to play, or draw the beats in, I'm definitely seeking to improve, a song I'm working on at the minute has my first drum fills and such, I'll definitely get better.
cheers :)

I am a rapper and i am also a huge Offspring fan. I will definitely drop something on this and get it back to you. I rarely log into this forum so it is interesting that i found this. Here is a sample of my music.

It's a cover/remake of Lil' Troy "wanna be a baller"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nWQlvRE1bw

is there any way i can get the 320kbps .mp3 of this or maybe even a .wav?

It's funny, I actually started work on this and then completely forgot about this. I have almost a month off (if you don't count in-depth readings on discourse analysis) and I might actually decisively pull something together. No guarantees but I liked the way it was going.

NOTE - I am not a rapper. I might, however, speak rhythmically over some music.

Definitely still interested in hearing your take over this, weather it's extra music, singing, rapping, talking, whatever!

I always dug your stuff, hope you do finish something.
