Hamburg was a really cool show, loved it. The crowd was way into it and so was the band, with that little stage built into the crowd. Dexter went there two or three times as did Noodles. Airplanes flying over real low, setting going from daylight to darkness, very cool.

The show was really great. Future Is Now and Days Go By sound very good live, and hearing Genocide is always great. There were quite a lot of people there, and the venue itself was pretty cool. Headliner show in the park, awesome.
During the concert some guy from the crowd went on the stage, jumping for a bit, then he got taken away. And in front of me there were two quite old guys, getting crazy for a couple of songs, was also quite fun to watch them.
I enjoyed the show a lot.

Most Journalists/Photographers chose not to take pictures of this event due to ridiculous requirements by the management of the Offspring. (Management should have gotten the pictures after the show and then make a selection. Also, certain camera angles weren't allowed.)
It was their show so they can make up the rules but I thought it was kinda weak. They are not THAT ugly!

Yeah, saw that too ... thought it was a little strange but whatever, if they / the management don't want pictures taken (or only taken in a certain way) so be it. RaR will be broadcasted live so they probably can't get away from that :p;)

It says a lot I think when a terrible quality fan recording of "The Future Is Now" sounds far better than the studio version of "Cruising California"! lol Hearing this song, regardless of the quality, makes me think "this is more like it!", and gives me real hopes of Days Go By (at least overall) being an awesome album. Thanks Beheaded! :)

On a side note, it sure looks like a Telecaster Noodles is playing in "Genocide", but of course, I can't see what's written on the headstock, so it could just be a Telecaster shaped guitar made by another company apart from Fender... :p

It sounds a lot heavier than a telecaster, and Noodles has a lot of older style Talmans, or the NDM2 that look like a Tele

If you look at the headstock it's clearly the Ibanez talman one, not the Fender, they are endorsed by Ibanez, only greg's using Fender lately, but he has lots of Ibanez custom bass.

this is the ibanez one

Too bad they don't make those old electric Talmans anymore, I'd pimp one up with duct tape like an NDM1. That's still one of the coolest looking guitars

Sara MZK
05-30-2012, 11:27 AM
Well, the Telecaster shaped guitar was originally made by Fender, though a few other companies started making their own guitars with that shape later on. I'm not sure if Fender actually has a patent on that guitar shape or not. But for sure, that shape was originally made by Fender. In any case, the Talman's Noodle's plays sound and look awesome! xD

About Greg, yeah, he's been a long time Fender user. I recently saw a photo of him using a blue and black Precision bass that Steve Harris from Iron Maiden made famous. :)

Dexter_italy
05-30-2012, 11:35 AM
And he is definetely the member with most equipment!! he has at least 15 basses... Oh and the one in the studio tour "Al-Gore" looking is the one we can see on the studio picture signed by many people! he never used that live!

Dexter Holland

Ok guys, here you go:

This cityís made of diamonds
And tomorrow glass will grow
On the freedoms that divide us
Theyíre coming after me
Flashback 1984
Now whoís knock-knocking at your door?
A thought that starts a riot
Theyíre coming after me now

Life is not the same
I am one but
Sparks turn into flames

Will you take whatís in my head?
And erase me when Iím dead?
Cause the future is now
And now Iím disappearing

The day has turned to night
Can you save me from the light?
Cause the future is here
And this is how I disappear

Running down a spiral
With the light of better men
Shouting progress is survival
Take one last look and see me
Now you see me, now you donít
No vow to break
No string of hope
My hero, your pariah
Theyíre coming after me now

Life is just godís game
I am one but
Sparks turn into flames

And you get what you deserve
When revenge is what you serve
Cause the future is now
And now Iím disappearing

Iíll sink into the night
And Iím turning off the lights
Cause the future is here
And this is how I disappear

So the endís what you make it
And thatís what youíre looking for
This is the future
The future is now

Disappear
I disappear

Now turn off the lights
The skies are blue inside you
Turn off the lights
Theyíll get inside of you

There's a whole other thread about this, but basically, this is making a mountain out of nothing. Metal Hammer is just trying to draw attention to themselves by calling out the Offspring for doing what just about every band out there does. You wouldn't believe the awful photos I get for approval for another band I work with that these people ACTUALLY WANT TO PUBLISH. It's stupid.

[...] Metal Hammer is just trying to draw attention to themselves by calling out the Offspring for doing what just about every band out there does. [...]

Could be but maybe they're just trying to you know do their job (as kind of journalists) and bring things to light that others don't ;). As I said I before don't really know how trustworthy Metal-Hammer as a source is (since I don't read it much) but on the other hand I don't think it's that wrong to write about stuff like this if it actually happened that way (freedom of the press); they also mentioned in their report that acts like Rammstein and Iron Maiden have similar contracts too so it's not like they are after The Offspring in some kind of way ;). Good thing about reports like this is that one gets a little glimpse of how things most likely work behind the scenes.
