Guys and girls!

I would like to know which you think is the best lyrics in any Offspring song. Or the best line. Also what you think is the funniest.
Me and my friends had a discussion one night and it made me wonder what everyone else thinks. So please let me know.

My favourite would have to be this one from Self Esteem because i can relate to it

When she‘s saying that she wants only me
Then I wonder why she sleeps with my friends
When she‘s saying that I‘m like a disease
Then I wonder how much more I can spend
Well I guess I should stick up for myself
But I really think it‘s better this way
The more you suffer
The more it shows you really care Right?

And the funniest would have to be, well the whole of Beheaded. But there just my opionions!

And when you know you can't relate
To one more shiny face
Your heart breaks
No one cares
And when you know you can't go on
Cause everything is wrong
Your heart breaks
But no one's there

Amazed :( shattered, relating lyrics. Dexter fucken rocks when it comes to breaking my heart. lol

I would say all of Gone Away. That is some of the best song writing I have ever heard. One Fine Day has hilarious lyrics, I love them!

Drinkin‘, fightin‘, going to the game
In our world it‘s a way to stay sane
If you‘re asking me
To have it my way, I‘d say that‘s
One fine day

Awesome!
End of the Line also has great lyrics :D

That's for sure. I had a loss of a family member the other week and i always listen to that song when i'm down but as weird as it sounds, it helps me get through.
Does anybody else get that with their songs?

Yeah, besides the fact they mae great music, Dexter knows what he's talking about and his lyrics make me feel better knowing that other people have had the same things happen and get through them.

That's true. He is amazing but we still can't forget about Noodles, Greg and Atom. Or to be truthful Ron either. He's been a big part of the band since i've liked them back in '93 but i'm positive Atom will be just as good!

Thats very true. Ron is one of my favorite drummers. His super fast drumming is just amazing  But yea I agree, Atom will be just as good maybe even better :D

All i need now is to catch them on a proper tour over in England to see how Atom is doing! I've only been able to see them at festivals. :( Maybe my day will come!

Ive never been able to see them live. Hopefully next tour I will be able to see them live in more than one show. I'll have to do some travelling to make up for the years that I missed them near my home :D

It's made me cry before which i think is the whole point. Everything inside you is released like that rather than in a bad way and i think that's what he aims for!

i personally think that the lyrics on splinter are amazing and love the intro to Lightning Rod:

I am waiting
On a mountaintop
For the moment that the sky will strike
My apologies
Are forever lost
Soon to ashes in a flash of light

Hey! I love this one "Defy You" it's very optimistic, it get's me up :

You cannot stop us
You cannot bring us down
Never give up
We go on and on
You'll never break us
Never bring us down
We are alive!

Self Esteem is a great song! It's full of emotion

I guess the funniest would be 'She's got issues'

Now she talks about her ex nonstop, but I don‘t mind
But when she calls out his name in bed
That‘s where I draw the line
You told me a hundred times how your father left and he‘s gone
But I wish you wouldn‘t call me daddy
When we‘re gettin‘ it on

However if I could pick one lyric it would be:

'like fragments of a broken mind I splinter by own desgin'

-Long Way Home

When my best friend passed away 3 months ago, Gone Away and The End of the Line was pretty much all I listened to for days. It does help.

somewhere the time was right
could have been gone in ten
this world is hard to fight hitting you once hit it again
to know the way it feels everyone gets knocked down
when you get up its real by taking it back you turn it around

...somewhere along the line things get chipped away
this place keeps going down, gets a little worse everyday
i see the hate and greed this worlds a messed up town
embrace the pain and see by taking it back you turn it around
