Call me old fashioned, but I like to own tangible copies of music I like.

And I'll be honest, I don't "buy" much music.

I'm troubled that the band has only announced an iTunes release. I dont know who in their right mind would "preorder" iTunes... kinda defeats the purpose of a preorder, which for the consumer guarantees a copy, and for the stores/record labels, they like to predict demand, know how many to order, how many to manufacture. However, you can't run out of digital copies, so there would be no need to "preorder" anything. And a live copy of TKAA? Really thats the best they can do huh? Yknow what I'd do it for? A recorded version of Guns of Brixton, or some other cover.

Now, what about the Droid user? 66% of smartphones are Droids, not iPhones. Sooo, if you only offer iTunes, you only offer your music to 1/3 of your audience. The band has already snubbed me, the Droid user, by not offering me the ability to play with Rock Prodigy. Now they won't let me have their music too? You're basically forcing me to steal the music.

And I'll be honest, I want to buy the music. The Offspring are one of the few bands I give them all the money I can. They have moved me in a way no other band ever has. They deserve to have the extra chart notch I give them by buying their CD. Or their digital whatever.

Yes, I know I can buy the iTunes, burn it to a CD, rip the CD into an mp3, and put that on my Droid, but I'll lose too much quality. And (I know Im in the minority, but) I refuse to give Apple any money.

However, there has been no announcement of a CD. Not even a way to buy the digital music through their website. I'm sure it'll eventually end up on Amazon like everything else, but really? Is this really going to be the first Offspring record thats 100% non-tangible digital and in Apple's pocket?

Personally, I'd like to have a real copy, flip through the lyrics, look at the artwork, read the "Special Thanks", all that stuff. I am concerned that this will not be a possibility.

I'm not sure if you're in a different country or something, but there definitely will be a physical CD.

Here. It even says "Audio CD."

I'm not sure about it in the States, but I just pre-ordered a physical copy from a shop called EMP. It definitely exists, I guess you just have to search for it.

EDIT: Ninja'd

Of course there will be a cd. Why don't you think there will be one?

In my case, I preorded the album on iTunes because since the album itself will take probably an extra month to get to where I live, this way on the day of the release I will have perfect quality songs on my computer, and when the cd finally gets here where I live, I'll go buy the actual disc.

And I still don't understand why you think there won't be an actual cd.

Oh, you're in NYC like me? Yes, there will be a CD for us. I'm sure of it.

I think there are more important things to get upset about Mark to be honest, most people buy their music digitally and most of those people buy their music on itunes I'd imagine.

We were discussing how weird the pre order has been for this release in the DGB vinyl thread.

Even though there is a cd. The band has done nothing to make this an exciting release worthy of a pre order.

And... I don't use iTunes either.

Though the international link doesn't work for me, it just redirects back to the main page.

They don't but they are the only ones that SHOULD be using that old junky software.

For someone who used to like to talk about how much more informed he was than the rest of us, you sure are a little behind...

They announced iTunes availability, then announced the amazon preorder like two weeks later.

I personally don't see the point in preordering most cds unless you can preorder like a bundle that comes with exclusive merch thats only available through the preorder. Bonus mp3s will be all over the internet the day after its released... *shrug*
