Is anyone watching the Olympics?
The opening ceremony was a little boring and a little too long as far as I'm concerned.
I like the flame a lot.

Really looking forward to some of the competitions such as diving, weightlifting, sailing etc.

I only wish that Jörgen Persson gets a medal (preferably a golden one) in his seventh Olympics. His best placement in the previous was fourth, in 2000 and 2008.

Yes, I'm watching it this year. I hope that the US has a good Performance, especially in basketball, I hope China sucks dreadfully, and Jaques Rogge gets his brain blasted out for destroying Olympic baseball. WTF, right? What's more Olympic and more summer than baseball?
I also didn't like the ceremony. I like the torch, but it should've been taller.

I'm always a huge olympics fan; have really been enjoying the swimming and rowing so far.

I really liked the opening ceremonies too, particularly the parts interpreting the Industrial Revolution.

They really need to stop riding this Chinese chick winning all the swimming stuff.

What the fuck's the point of drug testing if you're accused of doping even when you pass? What a bunch of penises.

It's seems like Europe is the biggest medal eater. Must be over 100. But, oh well, we are not really united...

I've been watching it quite a bit actually.

Katie Taylor won us the gold medal, yay!

And Cian O Connor the bronze

Im slightly peeved that they sliced a chunk out of the opening ceremony. Oasis etc where just cut out, even Doctor Who which as it celebrates its 50th year in 2013 and is pretty much tied into British consciousness was also omitted. Barring the sound of the TARDIS during Queens little bit.
Overall though, i've been enjoying the whole thing. Being more or less based in Manchester at the moment, i've seen lots of people from far and wide going to the Football. But have watched a lot of events i would never normally see using my trusty Red Button (BBC multi channels, for everyone else).

I agree, she's a great athlete - let her enjoy her accomplishments.

That is a good point. China is at the top of the metal count for single countries but that one country has more people than all of Europe combined.
