Upon hearing this news, I have decided to attend the Melbourne Soundwave Festival for the first time.

It will also be my first time seeing The Offspring live after being a fan since Conspiracy Of One. I can't wait!

This will be my third Soundwave yet and I thought this years lineup was great. I can't wait!

I bought tickets in 2009 for their rafrag tour but they pulled out. However i think the fact that they've released a much better album since then means it'll be a much better show.

Tickets are going to be $187 this year so here's hoping for some m
ore great bands. All will be revealed tomorrow morning.

no idea why a perfect circle is so high offspring and paramore are more popular then them

also good career choice atom willard instead of playing with offspring you are playing with danko jones all the way at the bottom of the lineup lol

wow the soundwave festival got really big since offspring headlined! Metallica, blink, linkin park, along with offspring and paramore. This is going to be the biggest one yet.

Oxy's chartering his own intercontinental jet? I'll take a window seat on that. Economy class.

Are you going? I was never gonna charter a jet, I was gonna charter a plane, and only because it would've been cheaper than flying commercial economy class :-P

Yeah, the Soundwave shows have become a lot bigger in the last 3 or 4 years since they were there last. It's pretty full of all the hardcore/screamo douches though, when you get down from the top-tier headliners.

Hopefully these days they'll get to play for a big longer than last time. Even as one of the headliners, it was pretty short & sweet. Though Maiden was pretty extended & awesome year before last.

I hope not they should do a 30th anniversary tour in 2014 and play the first album and smash

Self-Titled would be a bit of a stretch. I'd say the chances of a Smash anniversary mini-tour would be pretty good odds, though, especially given the fact they're doing the Ignition stuff. I'm still laughing that they even bothered doing the Ignition shows, much as I love the album. From their perspective it seems a little...yeah. Oh well, just shows the faith in their "core" fan base to turn out, I suppose.

Well Noodles said they might do it because it will be the 25th anniversary of the first album and the 20th anniversary of Smash if they do a Smash anniversary tour I hope it's not a mini one I hope it's like 30 shows

I guess my point was that probably, what, 5-10% of people who enjoy the band would even be familiar with the S/T? I can see a couple of shows in Orange County or whatever, maybe, but I doubt they'd be touring overseas with a first-album thing.

And I would love to see them play it in Huntington Beach if they do one

id expect a good number of shows for the smash anniversary. A lot of people who overall dont care for the offspring love that album. So my guess is A LOT of people would go

Will be there at both Melb shows! Can't freakin wait. Rumour has it that they'll be doing a double act i.e. Full Ignition set and then the greatest hits kinda' set! It will be one fn rip snorter of a show :D

Eskimo

Don't get your hopes up. They don't play for half as long as necessary for that, at the festivals. 40 minutes tops. The Ignition stuff's a separate dealio.

It isn't a rumor they are definitely doing a double set at their headline shows. Have you been to the palace before I haven`t and need to know an easy place to park nearby as I live 3hrs from melb and have to work til 4pm that day so I will be getting there right as doors are meant to open.

Oh, you're talking the sideshows. Yeah, if they're like the US/European gigs, they'll probably bust out some other songs as an encore afterward, after the Ignition run through. I thought you meant the actual Soundwave shows. Don't expect any Ignition stuff there, unless they break out a random KHWHD or Dirty Magic as a random thing. That's beyond rare, though.

yeah I was talking side show!
Parking will be a bitch if you are that late :( Try and park at Luna Park or if you don't mind a little walk, try get a spot (plenty of them) at Beaconsfield Pde.

oh that's hilarious!!!! I'm such an idiot. I kept thinkin it was at the Palais but, yeah, you're right its at the top of burke. I park at Albert St there and then walk down to the Palace (about 10-15min) Cheers mate

no probs. Wouldn't want you going to the wrong venue. I always get the palais and the palace confused too, according to the palace website there is $10 secure 24hr parking across the road from the palace. Might just park there.
