If you can play them.

ya well my drummer has a double bass and he can play it

therefore

it is the shit

SkunkIt
02-19-2005, 10:12 PM
Not every drummer can play a double bass though, so if you can't it's just a waste of money, then again, you never know untill you try it, but it's better to try it before you buy it.

you can always LEARN

SkunkIt
02-19-2005, 10:18 PM
Even if you are learning, it still takes some time. You have to manage your balance on the bass and the hi-hat first, and be able to move your feet fast enough.

i know, my drummer is still learning, but what he can do now is still amazing

and he uses a drop clamp on his hi-hats

SkunkIt
02-19-2005, 10:19 PM
It takes at least a few months though.

It actually doesnt take that long providing that you practice ALOT. I've only been playing 2-3 month's now and I can already play the drum part for the song by anthrax called "got the time". What i found out while playing drums is that the best way to learn something is to play it as slow as you can correctly and not just jump right into playing the real thing and screw up. After a while it will just click and all of a sudden you'll be able to play it at the correct tempo flawlessly. Double bass is a really handy tool to have when your playing songs that require straight eights on the cymbols and sixteenth's on the bass drum.

I think the pearly white's cool too. My kit's the same sort of thing but blue. If I can be bothered, in the Summer Hols I'm gonna paint it black then spray/paint some flames on and get a custom made bass cover

That sounds a cool idea, post pictures when its done. :D

dude you need to get a double bass

The style of music we play in my band doesn't really need double bass.
Yes, we could experiment, but I've got other things to upgrade on my kit at the moment, once I've done all that, then I'll think about getting a double bass.

I could get one regardless of whether we need it in our band, but seeing as I rarely play my drum kit unless we have a band practice (yes, I know I should practice on my own) then its not vital for me.

yeah thats a sweet kit. but what cymbals you got? i couldnt see... i have mapex q-series drum kit and zildjian zbt cymbals (they suck)...

Hysteria
03-15-2005, 06:03 AM
(I'm Idiot as well as Hysteria, long story, I don't post on here much anymore anyway)

Cymbals I have:

Paiste 502 Hats - not amazing, but comparable to some top line Zildjian and Sabian hats, yet these are a fraction of the price. Bright finish, they really cut through any sort of music.
Paiste Dimensions 16" Medium Thin Crash - expensive, but its top range Paiste and has a sweet high-pitched sound ideal for rock
Paiste Alpha 20" Power Ride - really good ping sound, not too washy, professional sounding, affordable
Zildjian K 16" Dark Crash - very expensive but well worth it, great dark tones with a super clean sound (i got it for less than half the price off Ebay)
Zildjian Avedis 17" Rock Crash in 'Brilliant' finish - generally you can only get these in America, I got it off Ebay, as new, for about 40% cheaper than in shops - very rocky, ideal for metal.

Oh, and a Paiste 502 10" Splash :D

Nice indeed.... but you know what sucks? I gotta fucking Torque kit. It sucks so much that they dont make them anymore. I have the money to buy another one, but I haven't got around to doing it.

ShotoCloneX
03-20-2005, 10:26 PM

I have to agree, but Tama aren't far off DW's quality. :)
I want to get a DW sometime in the future.
