I think tekno is good especially when you`re drunk.
actually all music sounds better when you`re drunk, in my opinion..
I might just be a weird person though.

i guess it will be easier to download hardcore house. it's almost the same but Tekno is still real underground. It happened to be a couple of friends of mine are really into it. But it will be hard to find good Tekno on the internet. If i were you is would look for the Thunderdome cd's.

wtf? one step beyond and baggy trousers are great songs! but i guess you've got a different taste, wich is great cause this world would be boring when everybody would like te same music.

haha, that`s right...
many songs demand good speakers and reciever to sound good... especially tekno and music that has lots of low and/or high frequences..now I`m listening through these computer speakers.. ) so poor sound even when listening to good music. the best thing this board has offered to me is that I`ve discovered dozens of awesome bands that I`ve never known about.

off the subject:
I just heard my first songs from our lady peace and it sounds good..

Every genre of music is complete and total shit because they're just relying on a pre-determined set of rules instead of making their own. There can be an individual band in a genre that is completely awesome and brings a lot of brand new ideas to the table or brings elements of other genres into their stuff, but anyone that writes straight punk or anyone that writes straight death metal or anyone that writes straight pop probably sucks and does nothing that hasn't been done before. If I had to pick one, I'd say indie rock, because it has probably the widest range of sounds out of any other genre.

I don't think that uncreativity in music necessarily makes it bad music. Like, you could have a totally new and creative and super band. And then have a second band that plays very very similar music. But if you had never heard the first band, you would still think the second band was good. Even if you had heard the first band, you could still think they were good, just uncreative. The problem is when stuff is really overdone it becomes boring. And some of it loses the passion, etc, and hence doesn't have that "touch" to it to make it great. But this is not a necessary thing.

But I'm of the mind that if a song is melodic and catchy I will like it. Will I love it? Not necessarily, but maybe.

I don't know if I'd agree with you about indie rock. I agree it is probably more varied, but what about bands that would be labelled what... "progressive" or "alternative" or "new age" (I'm not a good music labeller)... could those not encompass more sounds and wackiness?

Anyway, my choice would involve a combination of rock and pop and that punk touch to make it a bit more fun.

Gob is alternative rock.

Hard rock : Adema (some), Killswitch Engage (borderline metal), Avenged Sevenfold (borderline metal).

Punk rock : Offspring, Greenday, Ramones, The Clash, Sum 41 (?)

Other rock (I'm including everything else here) : REM, gob, Startingline, Nirvana, Garbage, Yellowcard, KoRn, Jimmy Eat World (only because of "Pain"), Linkin Park, Jet, Lucky Boys Confusion, Eve 6, SR-71, Alkaline Trio, Lit, Metallica.

Metal : Dimmu Borgir, Slayer, Amon Amarth, Fuck I'm Dead, Hypocrisy, Cradle of Filth, Lamb of God, Black Dahlia Murder, Slipknot.

our tastes of music are very much alike.(I just don`t like dimmu borgir, slipknot`s ok, I think someone would put them in some other genre instead of metal)
you`re right, gob is alt rock.
though I personally like thinking there`s a bit of punk in it.. but you know, we see the things the way we wanna see them..
though it`s possible that many bands change their genre during their career, so that they won`t stick in any rules of a certain genre.
and the definitions of different genres vary a lot, too..
some say that pop means popular music and everything that is popular is pop, even if it`s dimmu borgir, that sounds kind of ridiculous to me.
